I have a 2015 Gen 3 - 325,000 - about 20k miles ago I did a fluid change and the transmission started making a clunking noise (so that is going down hill). The engine just started sounding like a flushing toilet occasionally and then clunking at idle off and on (ICE mode) and then yesterday tossed a error code p0303. Instead of spending the time tossing parts at the engine. I opted to purchase a "new" to me JDM ~51k engine/transmission combo (as the transmission is on the way out, the engine likely isn't far behind).... now the question comes in the best way to remove and replace. I haven't been able to locate any documentation on the best way to go about doing both. I am getting a married unit from the same car, so everything is still attached sensors etc. One is there any reference material to do a removal and replacement of both units together? (I haven't found anything yet myself but could be I just don't know where to look). I don't have a overhead gantry or a auto lift. I do however have just about everything else, engine hoist - transmission jacks, if I need to lift the body over the engine that is still possible. I just would appreciate help/direction on what is needed and/or instructions to follow be it youtube university and/or some other documentation.

I haven't found any great documentation on removing a 3rd gen transaxle assembly either, so this would be helpful if someone has a link to some good documentation on this possibly if there isn't anything with installing/removing as a married unit.

You're in luck: "married", that is, "engine assembly with transaxle", is just the way the repair manual instructs to remove and replace it. People doing one or the other are following procedures of their own.

In the repair manual, look under Engine & Hybrid System➧Engine Mechanical➧Engine Assembly➧REMOVAL (and then INSTALLATION, of course).

You ROCK!! Thank you so much - took me right to what was needed to start the process. Now I am just waiting on the engine/transmission combo to show up and well to get the old one out
