There’s no underneath? I do a lot of car camping and Priuses are perfect for that

Yes, it's possible to fit a spare under the floor in the non-plugin versions; this is a factory option in Japan, so it's possible to order all the relevant parts from there. Or you could DIY.

Here's a thread on fitting the original parts:

I have had my 2023 Prius XLE for 9 months and 10 days. The only other 5th generation Prius I have seen was at my local Walmart parking lot less than a month ago. That is the only siteing I have had.

Something has happened, and I see a Gen 5 Prius (or perhaps a Prius Prime) or two everyday on the road now.

I have warmed up to the contemporary looks, and I agree that it is a nice-looking car—especially the rounded rear shell design—even though the taillight design and a few other design choices like the rear-door handles are not that great. I have seen every color except the black. The silver and white both look good, even though I am not sure if I would be comfortable with a white car. The red probably looks good, too. I don't like the dark gray—it is a pity that is the most common Gen 5 color—and I don't like the dark blue either.

Without the dealer discounts and factory rebates and the used-car prices having collapsed, a Prius Prime SE is still too expensive for me, especially considering that my fully loaded blue 2021 Prius Prime Limited is still like-new. I would have really liked to have upgraded to TSS 3.0 with LCA, FCTA, and TJA though.

...yea, my Gen1 was 20 years old and still working fine when I finally decided it was time to get the PPPXP last year. It wasn't pristine by any stretch, and a few minor things like the cassette player and one door lock didn't work, but it was still our primary car for our multi-thousand mile road trips. I certainly hope my PPPXP car lasts as long.

I did see a blue Gen5 for the first time today. Wow, that is a lot darker than I expected from photos, not for me. While not by choice (I got a "reject"/buyers remorse PPPXP) I do like the silver. The grey does seem a bit too dark for my taste as well. Secretly wanted to "have to get" red, but no luck. @Gokhan: the "white" is actually impressive--at least to me. I saw one at night parked under a harsh streetlight and the pearly sheen on it REALLY stood out, my wife and I gawked at it driving by. I saw one in a showroom waiting for my second keyfob and up close that pearly sheen looks nice too. On a cloudy day I've seen one and that is indeed "meh". It seems take the right circumstances.

PPPXP? What is the third P for?

    Reject/buyers remorse?

    You have the silver?

Well, you were unlucky to have missed the beautiful Gen 2 by only a year. With Gen 3, Priuses started seeing some not-so-aesthetic design features.

A very green friend of mine who is in the Sierra Club had a white Gen 2 that he liked a lot, which someone totaled by cutting in front of him in the carpool lane. He got a white Gen 3, and he hated it. He just did not like the looks of the Gen 3. He traded it in for a white Model 3 when it first came, and he has been happy ever after. In any case, being as green as he is, he wouldn't have been driving anything but a BEV for too long.

I have the white, and we both are liking the color a lot. I thought I wanted red, but when the dealership had a white that was almost exactly what I wanted show up on their build list., I jumped at it. I have no regrets.

I have had a gen 1, a gen 3, and now the gen 5. I might have gotten it a couple years sooner, but I really don't care for the gen 4 styling.

Looking at the inventory, I understand why I now see a lot more Gen 5 Priuses. There are plenty in the inventory. Given how unpopular small cars are in America these days, I don't expect the days of dealer markups to last beyond this summer. Dealer markups should be replaced with dealer discounts soon, as Toyota will want to move these cars when the demand subsides.

I still did not see a single one anywhere in Europe so far - given we have only Prius prime its very scarce. On the other hand I saw alot of the new Toyota C-HRs which are using the exact platform as the P5. The C-HR was even introduced much later (like last fall) but the supply seems big. You order and get one withing weeks while Prius Prime is more like > 6month

EDIT: C-HR has a plant in Turkey as well - that might explain the high supply and/or shorter delivery times
