Hey everyone Still new to this so bare with me please. So I've had my prius around a week now and my off side (rhd) low beam is intermittent I think water is on the hid ballast So been on ebay etc and these are not cheap to replace I've uploaded the images of the same ones I have. Is it possible to buy a set of the normal H11 ones and swap them round? I don't really want to spend £600 on a set of new headligjt units when the standard h11 ones are like £100 for a set Any help is appreciated
I assume you mean LEDs because the Gen 4 was never offered with HIDs. If there are HIDs, then the previous owner modified it and it came with halogens as standard.
Least expensive solution is to find a nearby auto wrecking yard to buy used parts from. In the US they let you remove the parts yourself, which is a great opportunity to practice without consequence if you fail.
These are a gen3? Also mines a jap Import which came with the hid ballast as part of the headlight unit. There are a few of these style in the uk mostly as ubers tho
Crap. My fat fingers lol. Sorry Gen 3 yes. They weren’t offered with HIDs either. In your first photo, those are original headlights. The previous owner did a really good mod and swapped the whole headlight unit with an aftermarket one. Either way, you should be able to reverse it back to stock.
That's not my photo it's the exact same as what I've got in mine and there are many similar ones on ebay they are common for rhd vehicles but seems to be only Japan imports have them my UK spec 2010 had the genetic H11s where as the imports all have the hid ballast in the bottom that's why you have a different entry point for the low beams it's in the silver cap which is side mounted rather than the traditional dust cap at the back but I'm wondering if I took out the fancy import lights is it a straight plug and play
Really? Oh I didn't know that. I thought it was just Gen 2 and Toyota swapped to low beam LEDs for Gen 3. My mistake! Hmm, if it's aftermarket, it should be plug and play. If it is indeed factory then probably not.
That Denso ballast is replaceable. The part number should be on the bottom of the ballast. Do NOT get a fake/aftermarket amazon one.. only new or used OEM. The aftermarket ones fail quickly. You should replace your bulbs.. OEM only, do not get aftermarket ones. Philips, Osram, etc.
