Apple CarPlay installed!!!

 

I reupholstered my center console/armrest cover with black vinyl from the hobby store.

I hope it holds up better than the horrible fabric that came stock!

It's a little wonky on the underside of the corners, but I'm happy with it. It was only $12 for the material and the spray adhesive.

I didn't spray the foam under the stock fabric, just the underside. I also didn't use the little staples that the factory did. Just went slow and held it down until it set. If you buy a foot of the bolt of vinyl you have enough to try three times

Earlier, I tried and failed to link from here to my post that detailed the path I took to CarPlay for my 2010 Prius. Here is that thread on PriusChat.

 

Not really. I sort of winged it! You cut it slightly larger than the armrest, and then make slits so the vinyl can go around the ribs and stuff in the plastic under.

Do the long sides first, and then practice the corners before you spray the adhesive on the ends.

You have to pinch the vinyl together on the corners to eliminate wrinkles and then cut out the excess.

I don't have any pictures of underneath sadly. I put silicone goop on each of the tabs to cut down on the creeking, so it'd be hard to get apart at this point.

 

Italian tune-up. Ten minutes straight with my foot glued to the floor, not letting up once. Covered 20 miles at full power. Exhaust is clean!

 

Applied Paraflex ceramic tint - 50% 35% 35%. Also installed Class I 1.25 trailer hitch (Curt 11473)

That came out pretty sweet. I was also considering this, but haven't gotten around to it yet

 

I found out blizzaks don't like Florida heat or 70mph !

 

whats the manufacturer date on that?

 

The tire direction in backward. That tire should be on passenger side....
You should check all the tires to make sure they are going in the correct direction.

 

Why are you still on winter tires? In Florida?

I bought a 2014 Prius 4 yesterday! 115k miles. It looks brand new. I've always been a VW Golf driver so this is a major change! Nervous about reliability and longevity but the Golf's were always a money pit! Texas mechanics always charge more for VW's. But...I'm really excited as well. I drive 18 miles to work on the highway and back....It's going to be a whole new style of driving compared to my old Jason Bourne style in the Golf LOL! Happy to find this great forum!
