What generation NAVI does the 2006 Prius have, I have DVD version 5.1, does Lexus and Toyota use the same DVD. I just bought a RX350 with the Generation 5 Navi and it has DVD version 6.1. So my question is, will it work in the Prius. I'm just afraid that if I put the 6.1 DVD into the Prius that it will update the firmware or something and I can't go back to the old version, that was the impression I got from reading some past posts that I've been searching through. Thanks Alex
After a google search of "prius 6.1 dvd" I came up with this link: http://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/hey-nav...027.html?page=3 According to them, it sounds like you should be fine trying the 6.1 DVD although you may have to disconnect the battery momentarily to get the previous version back. It shouldn't permanently affect it though. Have fun, and let us know what happens or what changes you experience (and I hope nothing bad happens, I didn't tell you to do it, so please do it at your own risk!)
So I can verify that the Lexus Gen 5 navi disc and the 06 Prius disc are different. The Prius must be a Generation 4 Navi then. I made a copy of the Lexus DVD and verified it works in the Lexus and then transferred it to the Prius. Something loads up, you see a bar moving and then it says it can't access the maps. I put the old DVD back in and it works fine.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(moolman @ Dec 28 2006, 07:06 PM) </div> I tried the same thing with a 6.1 DVD from an 07 Camry in my 06 Prius and had the exact same results. It said initially it was "Updating system" or something to that effect but then could not access the maps.
For those with the latest version of the navigation system (Camry or Lexus RX), does it have a "bird's-eye-view" setting? Like this: http://www.dubyateeeff.com/Wth/3000t.jpg
