    Hi all,
I bought my Prius back in August 2023 and its been great. The previous owner went wayy overboard on the airfresheners inside the car. It had 1 of those conical bathroom air fresheners inside which I immediately took out. the smell seemed to linger for a while. Upon cleaning the interior I found 2 Jelly disks in the front seat pockets in the back. Eventually the smell went away.
I started noticing a funk from the vents even when the A/C was off. Smelled like rodent pee and mildew. I scent bombed the car and it helped but it was still there. I got the Toyota AC refresher kit from my dealer ($30.83) out the door. I completed the refresh and it is so much better, the rodent pee smell is gone. I drained the liquid from the kit into a clear bottle and it looked like a wheat beer with some black floaties in it possibly mold/mildew.
We'll see how it is in a couple of weeks.
Here is the part number for anyone interested.
I didn't get any pics or videos but its pretty straight forward. I accessed the drain tube from the passenger footwell, just pulled the carpet back and pulled the hose through the grommet. much easier then going under the car with it jacked up.

If you look on Amazon there is some even stronger stuff that you can get that you do the same thing with as the Toyota stuff is just a little bit stronger we've used it in a couple other cars haven't had to do a Prius yet out of all four or five that we had and have there have been no issues with the AC knock on wood No evaporator replacements nothing I've got a car now that the selector hunts a little bit from floor to defrost to face etc I'm going to have to break it down and clean it or something but other than that that's pretty good stuff so apparently you need to check your cabin filter and see if you actually are having some lint and things that mice collect That's where they climb in take a look

    Thx!
I put in a new cabin filter a few months ago, I did see a couple of turds on there. And some on valve cover and inner air box. The cowel looks clean. Current filter was pretty clean only with the exception of 1 small turd, it may have been residual.
