Pre-painted Bumper Cover

I'm still waiting on a plastic part (52618-47050) that goes just under the bumper cover to come in before I put on the new bumper cover.

 

Final update on the MBI auto bumper cover.

After I took off my old cover, I just sat the new one against the car to make sure it will line up.

Everything fit correctly, all the holes and snaps were right where they needed to be.
After swapping the emblem, lights, and black bits to the new cover, I didn't have problems putting it on the car. I foolishly placed the cover face down in my drive way and scuffed the paint in the middle; guess I was just speed-running the job all the highway rocks are going to do anyway. I was replacing the cover as my previous one was cracked from hitting a 5-gal bucket on the highway, and not so worried about paint perfection.

There seems to be a much larger gap along the insides of the headlights compared to OEM.



And it might be my imagination, but it seems like the gap on the side of the car is just slightly wider than OEM. You can also notice the slight paint color difference on the sides. The color isnt noticably different on the top to the hood, but you can see the flake amount is different.



There is definitely a wide gap below the emblem.
And you can see some of where I scuffed it up when I had facedown, RIP paint.


Here are just a couple more shots in daylight to see the paint difference.



In conclusion, if you arent concerned with the paint needing to be exact or fitment to be perfect, this was a nice cost saving option to replace my cracked cover.
After all this I went to put on the plastic splash shield that attaches under the bumper cover only to find out the part I ordered Radiator Support Splash Shield (Front, Lower) | Part #5261847050 | Toyota Auto Parts ,that showed exact fit for my car in that spot, is actually not the part I need and I actually need Valance Panel (Front) | Part #7685147030 | Toyota Auto Parts . Yay me!

 

It seems the paint difference is a bit much, at least as captured by the camera. I had mine replaced once with a Toyota part which I believe was factory or dealer painted even though an independent paint shop bought and installed it.

I will say the color was not exact but I think it was due to new shiny paint versus years old paint. Over a few more years the two seemed to fade to a closer match.

 

I've read reviews and testimonials by people who claimed they sent in small parts of their old cover for MBI auto to color match and had good results. Maybe mine will fade and match closer with time as my car is now 9 years old. I posted my updates so others contemplating this purchase will have real examples of how it turned and then decide if they are okay with that outcome for themselves.
For me, it is good enough and now I dont have a cracked bumper cover.

Yes, that looks to be right. The one with little “towers” on the topside is what’s needed.

that thing is very vulnerable, too low, and reliably snags on typical concrete wheel stops. I’ve had ours off multiple times for repairs; it’s a miracle of Fiberglas mesh and 2-part epoxy now, and I know better than just rolling up to wheel stops, like I should be able to do.

 

Mine has been "hanging in there" for a while.
