About 2 weeks after purchase I noticed the lifting of the black rear door trim. No physical damage evident. Looks like something only possible with a heat gun and then bending it. Will talk dealer on first service.
Very strange. Anyone else have this happen?

Lol... Yeah... They gotta fix that for free and I bet it takes them a while to find a replacement part... Toyota used to be so much better than this kind of embarrassing!

I does look like it was subjected to heat for it to warp like that.

    That is just unusual…

Hopefully your local dealer service department repairs that under warranty and are able to order the part without much wait.

    Best of luck.

    I echo Peter 3232.

FWIW It could be the seal is not being retained.
Some low heat, with soap and pressure, to "click" it back in, if you DIY?

At a dealer I would not be surprised if they remove the entire window and install a new seal and surround parts; plus I do not know if the interior needs to be removed to do so. Might be a somewhat "big" job so I would leave to warranty :)

    Yes, best of luck.

Would be fun to get it on record with the dealership, but don't push them, yet. See how extreme it can get. Park on the other side of the street for a while, get some symmetry going?

I too wish for the logic that possibly the heat of day made the bend happen. But between purchase on 17 DEC and first notice of bend, 3JAN, the weather here was cool and mostly overcast (nights not below 35*F, days not above 59*F). And parked car doesn’t get direct sun. Also I kept hoping it would get worse or the other side would go wild…no such luck.
Kenny: the part is pretty much flat to the car body surface (in plane) as the normal condition. And there indicates a clear “bend”.
It would make some sense to me if it were a formed plastic part (from sheet stock) that was not heated high enough and thus inducing residual stresses that over time caused the bend. But alas, probably injection molded. I’d probably guess maybe polyethylene or polypropylene; probably not vinyl.
Oh life’s joy of mysteries. Not much else to live for.
