I see that on the East Cost and some middle america dealers are selling PP at MSRP or discounted below MSRP now. In CA most dealers are still extorting $2500-5000 from new owners (sold above MSRP). Amazing.
My source for this is "https: //docs.google.com /spreadsheets/d/10WZedrJJp2gfc2qwzjRZxSwGiXr381Ms/edit?fbclid=IwAR3MfUEWqERAjeEpzX25JrNGZj4PC9iz_4D11A4yfv3hnJcbFIXilLbinf0#gid=2068065130
I have not been successful at posting this spread sheet as a link to this forum yet. But it was very usefull when I boght my Prius in late 2023.
PS: I had to add two spaces to the link to get it to appear here. It is not seen as a media link.

I just picked up a 2023 Prius Prime SE in supersonic red for 34100 USD. The price included mug guards and a $500 NY state rebate for EVs and PHEVs.

Congratulations! That’s an awesome price. I’m quite happy with my Prime SE, more luxury features than I would have expected without the features I didn’t want or need.

Thanks, same with me! Though I have to admit, last time I purchased a car was 2012 and clearly a lot has changed since then.

With respect to the SE, I love the car so far, but I also find some things puzzling. For example, the SE has auto-high beams, but no auto-headlights. Or it has a heated steering wheel, but not heated seats. Not that I’m complaining; some of these decisions are just odd to me.

I paid $33K for a used (6 months / 6K miles) SE in Windchill pearl. Only came with rubber floor mats, and was in perfect shape for a used car. Had to drive 200 miles outside of ATL to get something like that. ATL dealers still think it's worth to play with markups. I actually wanted the SE for the black small wheels. Wish it had auto headlights and 12" media screen, but I'm coping. Was surprised it had auto wipers, and TSS 3.0 is one of the best assist systems I've used (better than my old fancy 2021 Supra or even Tesla 3 that I rented).

I just took delivery of my Prime SE yesterday. $34,800 plus $500 NY rebate. Decent value on my trade of a 2020 Rav4 hybrid. Paid the difference off in cash. I was fortunate to not have to deal with horrible interest rates right now; even for people who have excellent credit.

Excellent, that is about what I paid for me SE three weeks ago in NY! Glad you took advantage of the NY Drive Clean rebate, though I wish our SEs qualified for the $1000 credit, since the EPA EV range of our trim is over 40 miles.

That’s awesome that you found one slightly used! Yea, I test drove a Tesla last year to see what all the hype was about…I absolutely hated the regen braking on it, and was told that couldn’t be adjusted. Plus, I didn’t like the touch screen that has all the controls and no physical buttons. I’ve also heard that if/when Teslas need repairs it can take a long time to get parts in and it’s costly. I figured going with the Prime was a much “safer” option. I like having the peace of mind of the gas engine. Who knows what will happen in the future with battery technology; but I think for many people HEVs and PHEVs make more sense at least for the foreseeable near future. Tesla fans will argue against everything I said; but Toyota is laughing all the way to the bank right now from the crazy demand for hybrids and PHEVs.

No argument here. The maintenance money I'm saving on the Prius Prime is applied to my Model S :)

I heard plenty of Tesla horror stories from friends. One got bumped in the back, took almost 6 months to get fixed. Others have to deal with odd appointment schedules and rework for repairs. Can only imagine how much fun it will get once warranties start running out. Also nobody talks about $/mile. I could barely squeeze 3-3.5 miles per kWh on a Model 3 LR, which is basically HEV gas cost equivalent. On the SE PP I average about 4.5 miles/kWh, but 5 is not unheard of, and my trips take exactly the amount of time it takes to drive from point A to B, not that plus couple of hours for charging stops. If Tesla ever comes up with a smaller hatch, I'll still revisit the situation, though :)

    This.
I love the buttonology of the machine. I recently drove a Santa Rosa to Albuquerque trip (~2400 mi R/T) and just left the charge cord behind. I never drove a vehicle with such range per tank of gas. EV was my reserve.

Very happen reading this thread we have laws that limit the all in price to the advertised one MSRP with transparency in advertising pricing of mandatory extras too (licensing, document fees etc).

I just bought a 2024 Prius Prime XSE Premium with Advanced Tech Package & digital rear view in red for the MSRP of $43374. I did a search of all western states and the only place I found it in Red with ATP at MSRP was Corwin Toyota in CO. I don't necessarily recommend them because they still tried to play some games with the leasing - snuck in a random $600 probably figuring I wouldn't notice. I only leased because it qualified for $4500 in lease credit. I'm paying off immediately. You pay $650 in and $350 out of the lease but that's still $3500 off. I live in WA and because MSRP is under $45k it should also qualify for a $15k exemption on 10% sales tax = $1500 savings. NOTE - Toyota requires you pay all the sales tax and seek refund from WA - ugh. If I didn't care about Red or ATP I could have gotten it in WA possibly for under MSRP but these Primes are excluded by Costco pricing. I highly recommend both the ATP and digital rear view. After owning a Tesla 3 (and loving it) I would never buy a car without at least some self-driving capabilities. The Prius's ATP is far inferior to Tesla but allows you to relax a bit on open highways. The rear view is even worse than my 2011 prius so I find the digital rear view to be great despite the focal length issue. Plus my wife adjusts the mirror impossibly low so rather than constantly moving it, the digital works for us both.

I also just leased an SE b/c of the $ 4500 rebate, but the whole process still mystifies me to some extent. What is the advantage of "paying off immediately", for instance? Thanks

Man its so much easier in Canada. The federal government gives you a straight after tax 5k reduction, and some provinces offer more on top of that. Mine sadly did not. Buy/Lease its all the same.

If you were going to lease anyways and don't have the money to payoff then there's no advantage. But if you would have bought in cash originally then paying off immediately saves thousands in interest payments while still getting the $4500 - $1000 lease fees.

I bought a 2024 SE with all weather liners ($299) and parking assist ($35). Paid $34,404 MSRP +TTL minus $750 Uber driver and $500 NYSERDA rebates. Put deposit down February 12th when I saw it online. Vehicle loaded on the ship same day, hit Newark March 12th, at dealership Western NY March 27th, picked it up March 30th. I was surprised I was able to get one that quick with no markup.

I might be late to the game. I noticed that the base MSRP has increased a lot since the 2023 launch
Using Prius Prime XSE Premium as example the base msrp was $39170 (2023) [not including destination fee]
    It then increased to $39370 (2024) announced Oct/Nov 2024
And then again to $39670 (2024) - not sure when did this happen.
