My key fob has only 3 buttons; lock, unlock and the panic button. What about the remote start, rear latch and climate control? Are those supposed to be standard on the 2024 Prius Prime? Also, I only got 1 fob with the new car due to a "fob shortage" I was told. Am I being told a fib?
Triple click "Lock" for remote start (which includes the climate control....) You only get the hatch button if you have the XSE Premium with a power liftgate. A hatchback is not a trunk, there is no button for release on a manual liftback. I have heard about the 1 fob issue but that was during the height of the chip shortages in 2021 and 2022. Didn't think it was still an issue today. I would get it in writing that they owe you a second fob.
Same with me. I picked up my 2024 Prius Prime SE about three weeks ago and I was only provided a single fob too, knowing that I will receive the second fob “sometime in the future”.
It sounds like a silly excuse to me. The shortage concerns 12th and 13th gen chips. Nothing like that required for a key fob.
Took me a few months to get the notification on the app that my second key fob can be ordered and programmed. Learn from my mistake…When you get the notification actually call and speak to a service manager and have them contact parts to confirm they actually have the Fob. Don’t trust whoever answers the phone. I wasted a couple hours and had to go back a few days later after they actually ordered my new Fob. Once they actually had it, I was in and out and probably an hour and a half or less. luckily, I had “digital key” as an option on my prime XSE, so I was able to use my phone as an extra fob when needed.
I, too, only got one electronic key fob on 30 December. Was told that they would send be the second when the chips became available,
Which was a lie. They will send you a letter telling you you are eligible to receive one. The letter will include instructions to call your dealership and order one. You will then have to bring your car to the dealership to have the key and car programmed. If you expect your second key to show up in the mail, you will be waiting until hell gets a winter weather advisory. (sorry if I've told you this before; there have been so, so, so many people posting versions of this story that I've totally lost track)
They won’t send you a fob. They will put a notice on the app on your phone. Then, you call to get the dealership to order it. Then, you make appointment to have it programmed to your car. Keep looking on the app for the notice.
