Hey folks, got a flat tire on my Prius 2023 XLE AWD while I was on the road. Thankfully I wasn't too far from home and only drove about a half mile on the flat. The sidewall of the tire is damaged, so I won't be able to save it. Any chance the rim is alright? Wondering if I'll need to replace that as well. My Prius came with the Toyo Extensa A/S Ii A 195/50R19 88H tires, but these are all out of stock and backorder wherever I check with no ETA on availability. Worst case scenario is I'll need to replace all four tires. Anyone recommend a particular brand if I end up going that route? I also ordered a spare kit immediately from Toyota Lewis. Should've gotten a spare parts earlier when stock was more readily available, but it seems like the kit and foam inserts are all on back order.
Michelin makes a tire that size but they are backordered too. This is why I switch to 17". I didn't want to deal with a situation like this. 17" tires are more readily available.
With the limited number of choices available, I'd go with the Michelin Primacys. Depending on how many miles you've got on your other three tires, I'd try and just go for a single tire replacement(either Michelin or Toyo) and hope there are better choices available when those original Toyos wear out. Honestly, I'd go with the single tire all the way up to 15k miles on your other three(I don't expect to get more than 35k-40k on my original Toyos). I'm hoping really hard that there'll be CrossClimate2s(or3s) available within a year. I also wouldn't say a different set of wheels with more common sized tires would be a bad idea. But that's totally up to you and what you want. Sadly, there are just no great options right now in the US.
Place an add here, check FB marketplace, Craigslist - to see if someone is willing to do a straight swap. Rims with tires down to 17", and buy yourself a new set of tires or get them to pay part of it for your stylish 19" OEM rims.
