I bought my Prius in February and my dad picks his up tomorrow. Anyone else building Prius families? My housemate is also signing up for one soon. He's not a family member but he will be parking in the same driveway as me.
the wife has one and I have one and we have no kids so are we still included in the "family" part of the equation?
At this point Prius family wannabe's. Put in for our second Prius in June (in Minnesota). Starting to think about getting on a second list, mostly because my wife has been really happy with the responsiveness of our local dealer with regards to repair and the recall stuff. (Bought the first Pruis about 1500 miles away in Minnesota with only a 6 week wait). Even put in for one of the listed contests.
When we bought our '02 in the summer of '02 I joined the Prius list on Yahoo to find out all about it. We loved the car and when we found out about the then soon to be released '04 we hurried over to our dealer and put our name in. I can't imagine the waits that everyone is having now since I was going crazy waiting for mine. We got it before Thanksgiving but it seemed to take forever. I kept checking with our salesman and gave him my cell. The call actually came when we were in Vegas for Comdex. We will probably always be Prius or hybrid owners from now on.
My wife, Sherry bought mine/OURS...she is not only a wonderful person for this, but is content to play co-pilot and navigator... she has drawn the line on the outside graphics... NO flames or other paint...I do have the decals and we haven't really talked about their placement... Sherry's favorite ride...it doesn't get great gas milage or have storage.. but is fun...so she says
OK, Amped, I have to be misreading you. You both have 04 Prii and you are trading them in for 05 Prii?
well i have one and my friend has one and we were roommates for a short period of time last year when i was closing the sale of my house.
No, both were private sales. It's part of the plan. With what we made on 2004 Prius #1 & #2, combined with generous tax credits from Oregon DOE, when we resell 2005 #3 & #4 our 2006 #5 will be free. I thought I recognized this possible small window of opportunity in 2002 and rolled the dice accordingly. Oregon has no sales tax, TT&L are <$50/yr, and I always pay cash for (potentially) depreciating assets. Certainly a better ROI than the stock market lately! Incidentally, I'm working the same plan for all future Toyota hybrids coming to market, and hope to be as lucky.
Well, My Prius family will probably be more of a Toyota hybrid family. I get my Prius in December, and my dad is thinking of getting a Highlander hybrid. (I know, people think they're not so good, but it's got more room and is bigger than the Prius, which he needs.
It would be har for me to give up my Prius, even at a significant profit, but you are definitely a man with a plan! My hat's off to you sir!
i could easily give up mine for a profit... but not until the replacement Prius was secured in the garage!!
I drive the '04 and my wife drives the '02 that I was driving before we got the '04. My dad is considering a Hybrid Highlander or a Prius as a possibility to replace their Honda Passport in a couple of years.
