Fits perfectly in the sweet spot where your leg leans against console also just installed Tuxmatts they look to be very high quality and fit well might add some soundproofing as well ?
Not a fan of the knee rest, I've never felt the need for one before and don't now. But damn the tuxmat does look nice. Road noise is not a big issue for me until im at highway speeds. I only notice it, meaningfully, at 100km/h or higher. But if this did help that it would be cool. I think it would be nice if they just used laminated side windows for the car, even if it is still an economy focused model being a prius, the fact the car benefits greatly from low rolling resistance tires - especially the phev model - some more noise dampening would be nice. If the tuxmats do in fact help with that, it might be an upgrade for the future. My care came with the all weathers from toyota in the base price here in canada though, so it feels wasteful given I already have all weather mats.

If I ever do sound deaden the doors, I'll end up changing the speakers too. But I'm really not one to want to remove the vapour barrier plastic given the winters/freeze thaw cycles/rust etc. I've found that its bearable compared to my 21 year old car I had before as is, and its only really bad on rougher roads. On recently paved/good quality roads, I've found the noise to be not so bad all things considered. I'm sure they save money and weight by not having more deadening, but it would be nice to have *something* more than what we got in the prime anyway. Maybe my perspective of car prices is still stuck in 2018 but at 42k base, I was hoping for a slightly quieter ride when going at higher speeds. To some extent its winter tires and steel rims on bad roads though and not much to be done there.
Gen5 doesn't use a thin plastic vapor barrier like the previous gens did. It's a rigid piece of plastic that has a foam seal around the perimeter and a combo of plastic and metal locking tabs/screws. I've worked in the doors of my gen3 and gen5, and the gen5 is way easier in that respect. Here's a pic of the door with only the door card removed. You can see how easy it would be to swap speakers.

I was doing my mirror upgrades and there was a connector to the PVM camera in the mirror that I just couldn't figure out how to de-pin(it wasn't in the Toyota wiring diagram manual). I finally gave up and drove to my nearest Toyota dealership(30 miles away) to beg for help. I took the pic on the way to send to a friend so he could laugh at me. lol Speaking of, here's what the side mirrors look like with body color mirror caps and turn indicators(currently non-functional until the dash wiring is finished). They also have the power folding motors inside(also currently non-functional), but it's not like you can see those in a photo. lol
Man that red color is sharp!! I would have gone for it but was coming off 20 yrs in a red Tacoma and the Prius AWD that presented itself for me was silver, which I love.
Where you able to figure out how to de-pin the connectors? I came across these tools awhile back when looking into PVM wiring. 1. F597 - Terminal extraction tool for Sumitomo TS Series 0.64mm(025) female terminals sealed 2. F790 - Unlocking tool for contacts locked on one side, such as B. Sumitomo TS series 0.64mm(025) female contacts 3. F662 - Terminal extraction tool for Sumitomo TS series 0.64mm(025) female contacts or similar I bought those 3 and have yet to try any of them out. I bought them because they where quite a bit cheaper than the ones toyota sell. With shipping I paid about $90 for the 3. Have yet to see if they are the correct ones.
I bought this tool set: Terminal Release Tool Set | OTC Tools I've mostly used the one with the black metal tip(OTC 7743). To unlock the PVM connecter, the Toyota tech added a more complex bend to the tool. I was also not prying in the correct spot. If you get to the point where you need help, just create a new thread sometime and ask. I don't have a spare cord to demonstrate, but I think I could find a pic online somewhere and then give directions. I believe I tried explaining it on a RAV4 forum a few months back where another user posted a picture.
I will do that. Probably not going to undertake any big wiring project in the immediate future but maybe in a couple months. Thanks.
