I just dug through my receipts and I think my post may have been wrong. I bought 9 quarts before an oil change 6 months ago and thought I gave the mechanic the remaining 4.5 quarts last weekend. However, I now realize I bought 5 quarts for the oil change done prior to buying the 9 quarts. Thus, I now think he used a half quart plus 4 out of the 9 quarts on the previous oil change. I think I did actually give him 5 quarts last weekend, so he probably used about 4.5 quarts, not 4. Four quarts would probably barely get it the min line. Sorry for my mistake.

Thanks for all the responses on this thread, folks! After my 2 years of dealer-provided service, I had a coupon at another dealer which ended up being cheaper than purchasing the oil myself and getting a labor-only oil change. I'll keep all this info in mind, for about 4,000 miles from now when I'll need another change. :)

Anyone compare 0w16 Mobile One to Toyota oil for MPG?

That sounds a tall, likely impossible order; any differences would get “lost in the noise”.
