Joined the club this week. 222K, Won't bore you with too many details, but I only experienced about 3-4 instances of running rough and no noticeable coolant loss, so I caught it quick at least. CEL came on as I was pulling into the garage. I have a lot of the prep work already done as I await parts. First question: How are you all torqueing the crankshaft bolt? I know some people just impact it back on, but I'd like to try to get it torqued correctly. Any clever DIY tools? I can fabricate decently, should I just build a Y bar with bolts through it? Anything even easier than that?
CEL doesn't mean you have a bad head gasket. You might just have some emissions issues. Unless you want to tackle the HG now, you might want to find the reason for the CEL
Yeah, you’ve got to restrain it somehow, or just use impact lol. Funny thing is, it’s just to hold on this beltless pulley. have you done boroscope inspection?
I used a loaner fan clutch holding tool with two M8-1.25x45 mm socket head cap screws from Home Depot. Grade 12.9 is necessary to resist yielding.
