The RFID chip is completely separate from the circuit board. Take the board out but leave the chip- close the fob case and it will still work in the dash slot.

IDK if something got damaged on the board? Did you have to strip it down to the "bare" circuit board? You could take some closeup pics of both sides of the board and post them- maybe something visible is bad.

Usually if the fob works 100% before & still lights the red LED after, it's fine.

Thanks, that clarifies the relationship between the RFID and the board.

Yeah I'll snap some pics and post them up. I felt I was very careful. And the tutorial videos certainly make what is a simple task, easy. I mean, how sensitive are these circuit boards to static discharge? Naturally I didn't ground myself when I did the swap, but wondering if something along those lines could have happened? Let me see about posting some images of the circuit board this evening.

    Hey,

I have the red lights and fob working only in the car (not in pocket/far away), will the chicken dance work? You mentioned you need the circuitry working so was wondering :).

[side note: the fob stopped working recently, red light still works. I dropped the key and it dismantled and... yah...]
I still wanna know the answer to the prior question even with the new issue though :(. Do you know why the RFID won't work again after dropping the key though?

You need to be more precise when describing this. What do you mean by working and conversely not working in your pocket/far away?
What do you mean by the RFID won't work?
