everyone I have looked at other Hymotion posts and I can't seem to find what I am looking for. I have a 2007 with the Hymotion. I noticed there is a brownish substance pooling. What I tried to clean it is feels like an oil, I am using gloves because I am wondering if it is possible for the Hymotion to leak out? In the picture provided, there is the pool that I keep cleaning the best I can, but the next day, there is more. I do know about the typical water leaks but this does not just feel like water. Anyone have any experience with this?

    Thanks!

Added context - no codes, new to me car, still learning the system. I called a dealer, but they said that testing this system would be expensive as they need an additional testing tool.

So this is some kind of lithium ion battery in the back of a generation two Prius and another country not the United States? I don't know who high motion is really if something's coming out of that battery I wouldn't think it would be water and there's no water back there there's just air and a fan and whatever is inside of this battery It looks like some sort of lithium ion something another whatever it is it shouldn't be coming out of the battery I wouldn't think and that needs to be looked into well directly I would think that would cause some kind of HV battery isolation fault which may need a capable scanner to read or you may be able to check that with whatever disconnects the battery reading from that to the frame of the car. But I know nothing about the high motion system never seen it first picture I've ever seen of it.

Okay now I see in the picture are you sure that's not water just passing through your chassis in Canada usually it comes through the rubber strips that run down the side edges of the hood or it comes in around the gasket that seals the hatch area if you remove your spare tire you'll see two rubber plugs if you push the rubber plug right under or just closest to the hybrid battery through retrieve it throw it into the trunk area just leave it there that'll allow water to pass through the chassis instead of sitting there building up they're also rubber plugs over near the 12 volt battery and under the parts bin on the other side where there's not a battery All of those plugs should be removed I even added a few more close to quarter inch size holes to help water pass through rather than build up around the 12 volt which in some markets in the winter time you will see the 12 volt sitting in a block of ice because water cannot pass through because the holes are clogged not there still got the rubber plugs in them what have you It may be water to make sure it's not some kind of battery lithium or something I guess you could take your test probes ground the black one and touch the wet and see if the meter gets excited I kind of doubt it looks like water that should pass through and it's not.

I think you are right. The substance in the picture is very thick and oil-ish. But I just went under the car and pulled the drain plug and about 4L of that brown stuff came out. I'll do the typically sealing and hope it does not return. The added battery prevents you from looking into that spare tire area. Still no codes so I doubt that much of anything could spill out of the extra battery.

Also, good idea to add extra drain holes.
