November 2023 Server Migration Notes

This is a long-running bug:

start a new paragraph, and the first letter is not capitalized (as it should be).

Backspace and retype, and it is.

 

Is anyone else having difficulty posting an image? I've tried my phone and PC. I've tried attaching the file using the "Upload a File" button, I've tried adding it to my album in the Media section. In all cases I get an error that says:

The following error occurred
There was a problem uploading your file.

then it shows the filename.

Any ideas? I'm trying to upload a photo of my garage floor, with spots from a suspected leak, to the 2016 technical discussions forum.

I appreciate the work you have put in to this very important website to anyone owning a Prius. In the past two years I started with a 2011 and now have traded up to two brand new 2023's. When I started in the computer world, there were no programs or factory made computers. I assembled them and programmed them for over 30 years. I am familiar with the term "burned out". I think this forum could continue with some monetary support from the users like a yearly stipend. With an owner/manager it might work. Yes, everyone has this problem. The new system is broken.

Those of us now posting images are using various workarounds. I'm using the 'disable javascript' route. Some others are posting the images elsewhere, then using a URL link to that other location.

OMG yes it’s working.

 

Updated pages, say if you edit your post, are not displaying properly. Sometimes. Refreshing (reloading) the page is a workaround.

alerts page is behaving similarly: displays “stale” alerts.

 

New posts page is behaving similarly, showing stale threads, read an hour back.

 

Yup, just noticed yesterday. Did they break it fixing uploads?

 

7:30 pm, tried “new posts”: it’s showing posts from early this morning. Refreshing the page yields same. Closing the PriusChat tab and reopening is the current workaround.

Edit: Had to refresh the page, to even see this post.

And again, to see the edit.

 

i'd prefer the upload glitch over this. what a classic case of sloppy software

New Posts and Alerts seem to be refreshing properly this morning, knock-on-wood.

 

Still happening:

edit your post, save changes, changes do not show, till you force a refresh of the page.

 

Edit your post twice in a short time and it may dump your first edits. Appears to pull up earlier version for editing, more signs of sluggish software with poor version interlocks.

 

No more, alerts way out of date again.

 

New posts isn’t showing new posts anymore

 

I just clicked "New Posts" and it's showing posts from a moment ago, 2 minutes ago, 7 minutes ago, etc. But will it do that tomorrow?
