2015 Prius Smart Key Programming Question

    Question: Does my smart key need to be 100% functional to program a new key?

    Good morning! I've run into a bit of an issue. My smart key went in the wash and stayed wet for 3 days. I've tried cleaning it with 90% isopropyl alcohol and compressed air but the lock, a/c, and alarm functions are no longer working. I can unlock the car with the key and the smart functions still work- I can lock and unlock my car with the door handles. Would I be able to buy the following and program a new key myself? Thank you!

    - Laptop
    - Mini-VCI cable
    - Techstream software
    - Car Key Fob Remote Keyless Entry Control HYQ14ACX 315MHz 3 Button Replacement for 2010-2015 Toyota Prius Plug-in

    id stay away from a mini vci cable and get an openport 2.0 direct from the manufacturer and not from amazon or an ali site. In my experience, the minivci is slow and headache prone.

    But as far as programming a new key I shouldn't have any trouble if 3/4 buttons don't work?

    Whats with the sig? You driving around with that motor in the trunk of your car of something? It damn sure isnt powering the car lmao.

    I never gave a status on the motor install, who says its not powering the car?
