We don't get to pick parts of a trim line (and haven't ever in Prii). I understand the LE 'S don't have it if that is a problem for you.

That makes me feel better. I wasn't sure if it was part of a technology package or what. The dealer had a LTD model and I went with what they had available.

You will have to switch cases. I had an Otter Box Defender on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and it wouldn't charge. I switched to BodyGuardz Ace Pro and it charges fine now.

Even if it worked perfectly (mine works, it just makes my phone hot, like others here), I wouldn’t use it. I have been conditioned to use a cable and it’s always in my car. It’s like muscle memory, I get in my car, put on my seatbelt and plug the phone in. It charges ridiculously fast with the cable. This wireless kerfuffle is just such a non-issue for me and doesn’t take anything away from my car, which I am still completely obsessed with, months later.

The LE (the only model without a wireless charger) has the slot; it's just missing the charger and its associated wiring.

In Canada, the Prius XLE does NOT have wireless charging. Ridiculous IMO, but true.

The XSE prime does though. The mix and matching because we only have the AWD non-prime begins to get confusing quick lol

I’m renting a 2024 Limited AWD right now, and my iPhone 13 Pro with a MagSafe case (I.e., a case with magnets in it) charges ok. You do have to align the phone “just right” in the slot, but once this is done, no issues.

Mine works fine, after someone showed me the little switch at the front of the slot. But I don't use it because I get better reception from the wireless charging cradle I have mounted to the dash.

I had an iPhone 11 that would charge sometimes in the slot. Got an iPhone 15 Pro, and no matter the orientation, or whether it's in a case, I can't get it to charge wirelessly. It did work once or twice, but I haven't been able to repeat it.

Just use the cable. It doesn't drain very quickly even when CarPlay is active, so I usually don't bother.

Wireless charging works fine in my '24 LTD with Pixel 8 pro...just drop it in the slot and it connects and charges fairly quickly.

Unfortunately, the wireless Android Auto isn't as reliable; it will work perfectly, then I go into the store, return a few minutes later, and get the "AA could not be started due to error" message that tells me nothing useful. Have experimented with various settings but nothing works, short of having the car and phone forget the connection. After which it connects fine.

So the bottom line is yes, the wireless charging works fine, but I have to plug it in anyway, or else wait and see if AA starts or it sits at the Toyota screen. When it does this, attempting to connect bluetooth fails. Plugging into USB starts AA immediately and works fine, but then of course I don't need the wireless charger.

I'll gripe to the dealer about this when the 5K service comes up...wireless Android Auto was a big deal to me after having to plug in to use it on a previous vehicle. Without it, wireless charging is pretty pointless.

My AA connection is fine, it randomly decides to mute the assistant and reduce music volume by half, as if there's a car chime or warning that silently never ends.

Very strange, and I think it's a glitch. Restarting the car is the only fix.

Have you tried rebooting the audio head (hold down volume button on the screen for 10 seconds or so?) That works for me on my Limited.

I didn't realize you could do this, I didn't notice it in the manual when I used search on pdf format. I will try this next time.

It really is a strange glitch I hope they fix :)

The AA reconnection issue... So infuriating but I think the phone is to blame not the car. I have a Pixel 7 that will work perfectly for months then be super unreliable to reconnect, and a Galaxy s23 that works perfect every time.

I agree. My husband's Samsung 10e works perfectly, but my newer s20 is unreliable with Android Auto.

It could be the phone...When I got the Prius a couple of months ago I had a Moto G Power, (Android 11) and it wasn't perfect, but connected maybe 80-90% of the time. With the new Pixel 8 pro (Android 14), it's more like 40-50%, which isn't acceptable. This isn't how things are supposed to work...newer should mean they've worked the glitches out, not added some new ones 8^).

It seems to be a bluetooth issue. When the Pixel doesn't start AA, it shows as not connected, and trying to connect to bluetooth gives an error message about AA not being able to start, and remains unconnected. If I "forget" the bluetooth connection on one or both devices, it seems to reconnect and start AA OK.

I ordered a wireless AA adapter from Amazon that plugs in to the USB; we'll see if that works reliably, and if so it means it's probably the phone or some conflict/incompatibility between phone and car. Ridiculous to have to resort to that on a new car, but it's either that or plug it in to USB every time, which I don't want. I'd rather use the interim fix than have to plug in each time, and I'll hope the glitch is fixed eventually.

But back to the thread topic, the wireless charger works great every time...
