I can't recommend TRS (the retrofit source) enough. They only sell quality products and they ensure your projectors are properly tuned unlike the cheap ebay units. Their customer service is awesome and they are the go to source for the HID gurus on HIDPlanet.com. TRS

Gotcha, but is it safe to say I need those 2 parts? If so, the total comes out to being $200 shipped @ theretrofitsource?

I can second the customer service part. Haven't yet had a chance to try out the actual product lol. That one isn't meant as a sarcastic dig, just to get it out there for others as to why I can only recommend their c/s right now :)

Aye, I thought they were still offering the Gatling shrouds for free with each order but maybe not.

If you have to purchase the shrouds then it will add to the cost of the order as will the XB35 bulbs should you decide to use them. You can use the bulbs you get with your HID kit but they are not as good IMO. So you will basically spend about $130 for the projectors + the Gatling shrouds. IMO the E46 Extended shrouds look better on the Prius but they cost more so it's up to you. The DDM ballasts work great so you could spend as little as $30 for the Raptor kit or $40 for the slim line kit. I have both and they work fine although I have firing issues with my Raptor kit on my foglights. This may be because I am not running the relay harness on them.

ok i might be a little noobie on this but just to confirm, according to TRS, the Mini H1 projectors fit only the H1 bulbs and they say its ideal for cars with H4 headlights.. so for your HID kit what size bulbs do you have, the H1 or H4?

The HID bulb itself is H1. It connects to the ballast with the aftermarket AMP connector. The ballast will then connect to the car H4 harness (to get highbeam signal). When you order the ballast, make sure you get the H4 harness.

The power for the ballast gets connected to the 12v pole in the fuse box under the hood. It does not get power from the halogen H4 connector.

No. You need the H1 kit but with the H4 harness. I would HIGHLY suggest storing the DDM bulbs in your glove box as spares and buying the XB35 Morimoto bulbs from TRS. They will be MUCH brighter than the DDM crap and the color is guaranteed to be what you order. The DDM bulbs are garbage which is why they are $15/pr.

Just order everything except the ballast from TRS and Matt or Nate will tell you exactly what parts you need. Just tell them you already have a 35w DDM ballast but you need everything else. Their customer service is the best I've ever experienced. FWIW I just had a Morimoto 890 bulb break, which is rare, and they sent me a new one on 2day air with no questions asked.

Oh along these lines, be careful which shroud you purchase. The projector sits very low in the Prius housing so only small shrouds like the mini gattling or one with a flat bottom like the E46-R extended will fit correctly. Don't forget to add some silicone between the shroud and projector to keep it from popping off if you hit a big bump. It happened to me twice and taking the headlight apart to fix something so stupid sucks.

Ok thank you usbseawolf and F8L. I had 1 more thing I wanted to confirm. From your other forum thread F8L(about the ones you are selling), you said the XB35 Morimoto bulbs are compatible with the 55w ballasts from DDM? Is that correct?

Yes, the bulbs are compatible BUT you risk damaging the bowls on the projectors. I have not had any issues but TRS has issued a warning not to use 50w-55w ballasts with the mini projectors. IMO it's not enough of a brightness difference to warrant the risk. I only use the ballasts because I already had them and didn't mind the risk. :)

Do the high and low beams work the same as they did before?
