I am thick....We have had the car for a couple months and just noticed today there is a dashcam. How do I use and access it?
seems to be orginal, embedded nicely, how much is that type of cam costs, any special installation issues? toda thanks
It's more expensive than most but it's custom made for the Prius and connects without a fuss inline with the already there power cable in just a few minutes. You pull away (towards the mirror) the cover, disconnect the cable already there, plug the camera inline, install the new cover with the camera built into it and your done. It's a shame though that Toyota didn't allow for a MicroSD card to record from the original camera. https://a.co/d/4me8Kl7
well i will check ir out tomorow ,i am not sure about my prius type ii ididnt see any connectors there long ago when i wanted to install a dash cam. also wanted to ask if theres / thres not an sd card built in option or its a monthly subscription like blink etc where they keep your data only if you pay?
No monthly fee. It records to a microSD card that is accessible by the passenger side of the enclosure or directly over wifi using the app. In the Amazon link I posted, it shows how to see if yours is compatible. You remove the mirror cover and look for the part number inside. If it matches, it's compatible.
Dude! Thank you! Downloaded the app, goggled the wifi password, and BAM up and running. It has a 256gb card installed. We are headed out tomorrow for a road tip and this will be nice to have. Definitely factory looking. I fully detailed, did a decom wash, fallout, clayed, waxed, and sealed the glass. She is looking good! Now ready for winter road grime lol.
