During a brake inspection on my 2006 Prius (141,000 miles), I noticed the upper and lower strut boots were torn on both sides (Driver and Passenger). No ride issues with the suspension and no signs of leakage.

Hoping the collective wisdom of the Prius chat community can share thoughts on repair/replacement options?

    Front Lower Boot

On an impressive note, the original front and rear brakes are still going strong.

The amount of labor needed to replace the boot, nobody would attempt it without going in to replace all the struts and mounts. So unless you’re ready to replace all the suspension bits, it’s best to just leave those boots as is

I just bought a pair of these: For 2004-2009 Toyota Prius Front Quick Struts Shocks With Coil Springs Mounts US | eBay They're ridiculously cheap and once I put them on I'll report back... I'm always trying to find prices so cheap they seem sketchy to test how well they work. Like a $13 O2 sensors, which works great... Or a $24 inverter coolant pump, still going strong.

I was just about to replace my front struts with springs already mounted when I do my brakes tomorrow, but maybe I don't have all the mounts? What specific additional parts would you suggest I have on hand when doing this on a Gen2?

I mistyped "mounts", I just mean the strut mount. If you bought a complete set with springs and strut, it should have the strut mount. Everything you need is in 1 unit. One thing I'll add is to not throw away your original springs. The springs that come with the cheaper complete sets are usually very soft and not very good. You might want to go back to the original ones later, so keep them.

Having compressed strut springs in the past, I would highly recommend a shop do that, it actually can be quite dangerous, just heads up.
