LE AWD: what milage are you getting?

    There’s a thread on the LE milage but I’m not sure where you guys are finding the ordinary LE. Looks like I’ll be accepting an LE AWD from my dealer (not my first choice bc the milage but at msrp can’t complain)

    For those of you with LE AWD, what milage are you getting?

    There can never be enough MPG threads!!! :ROFLMAO:(y)

    I had to turn down all kinds of trim levels until I got my base LE. In fact, when an LE FWD was finally offered to me, I had to double-check because I didn't believe it. The AWD's not that big of a fuel mileage hit compared to the 19's. Plus, you get a little extra acceleration punch for your trouble.

    Lol well im already in the club, my 2017 prius has over 200k miles on it, so im pretty deep in the club lol.

    But yes, thats what i figured. More acceleration. Plus, one thing that bugs me about the 2017 is that when i turn corners to merge i often have the wheels skid and I think AWD will fix that

    No, the new club! :LOL:

    I loved my 2019 LE, but it was an appliance. I kept it very shiny, but the only entertainment was the MPG game. This new generation is a freakin' engineering marvel. It has all the utility and conservation of the G4, but with a TON more fun added. It's like having your cake and eating it too.

    Then you have people walking around your car, photographing it, nodding and smiling at you. Yet you're In a Prius... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

    Wow so almost exactly as advertised. Somewhat disappointing considering how common it is for folks to reportgreater than the promised milage on regular LE. Ah well it is all my dealer has

    I have had my 2023 Prius LE all-wheel-drive for a month and a week and so far the displayed mpg is fairly close to my miles driven and gallons to fill up tracking on my Excel spreadsheet. My total average odometer mpg is about 52.8 and I am getting an average of about 52.6 on my Excel spreadsheet. Granted, there are only four entries so far.

    Don't be dismayed. You can get a LOT better mileage out of the LE AWD than low 50's if you build your skillset and drive strategically.

    NOPE!

    I'm getting 41 mpg.

    Been a hyper-miler since 2008 with all my other cars at or over their advertised MPG's (Mazda's, Kia's, Ford).

    I have had an XLE AWD on 19's since June at over 4,000 miles. I do have the fixed glass sun roof as an extra weight consideration. I do have one hill on my commute, of which I'm charging the entire way down while creeping my way back up. Upstate NY, so cold is a factor now, but my MPG's started plummeting before the cold set in. Tire pressure constantly monitored and at spec. I was getting 47.5 - 48.5 for a couple months with nothing changing in cargo load, driving habits or route.

    Any ideas...?

    How long are your average commutes? What is your average speed reading on a tank?

    If you have experience with hypermiling, I don't know what to say other than give me more data.

    Ok, my daily commute is 14.1 miles. I'm not familiar with how to find avg speed per tank, though.

    I can tell you that the top speed I drive is exactly 55mph, and only that fast on a rather flat road, of which only 5.4 miles are driven at 55mph. I drive through my downtown on this route, and can mostly keep it in EV mode for the .5 mile of stop and go traffic. I also pass through two school zones, going 15mph max for a total of 1.9 miles. Outside of that, and not counting coasting down hill, I'm driving 45 mph the rest of the way - like a grandma.

    I have no idea how that driving route could be getting anything less than the EPA estimates. Are you sure you're not pulling a Winnebago behind? :whistle:

    Do a reset on your next highway part of the journey and tell me what MPG's you get.

    Grandma and Grandpa probably also get 40 mpg.
    Have you ever tried mapping a different commute route?
    The other thing not mentioned yet is getting mpg for a 100 mi or longer trip.
    Best times would be late winter and late summer for the biggest difference.

    Remember, mostly flat can be either going up most of the way, going down most of the way or staying at the same elevation from your starting point to your destination. Is there a difference in your mpg in either direction of your commute?

    do you idle alot? (Sitting with the car on but not moving, when parked etc?)

    also do you use the heat a lot?

    i have noticed idling really hits the mpg, and i noticed another big hit when I shifted from ac to heat as the seasons changed here. Was getting 52 in the summer and now down to 46 !

    also are you using eco mode, regular or sport?

    each mode beyond eco takes 1-2mpg hit as well.

    i started using regular over eco as i felt the slow accel in eco made me somewhat vulnerable to unsafe situations

    finally, cargo—the less weight you carry in the car the better the mpg

    5000 miles into my LE AWD since July. In Seattle, I was getting a consistent 50+ mpg…until the temperature started to drop. Been getting a consistent 45 with a low point of 41.Coming from a Cadillac, it’s not the end of the world but I was starting to think something is wrong. Don’t get me wrong; I LOVE my LE AWD. New to the chat & getting some tribal knowledge.

    I’m glad everyone else is getting great mileage. I have a 50 mile commute each way and on the hwy I’m doing 80 and then road to work which is about 8 miles doing 55. I avg 37 when cold weather and 39 in warm weather. I am honestly disappointed as my 2016 would avg 41 all the time. I also hit 15k today. And I have a fwd xle

    Winter weather (New England and Metro NY area) has definitely brought lower mpg for me. I have smaller rims and snow tires, so the dash isn't accurate anyway. My Speedo was was +2mph and now it's closer to 4 compared to GPS.

    I'm seeing high 40s compared to mid 50s.

    A big issue in colder weather is how long mpg takes to recover after the warmup cycle is finished.
    It might even be more worth it to mark how low mpg gets while warming up. It make final mpg per trip make a lot more sense, at least for me, anyways.

    Winter is over! Despite 2' of snow the first day of spring and a foot a week ago, the snow tires are off and the factory tires are reinstalled.

    My winter mileage was somewhere in the high 40's. The display showed about 49.2 overall since new... 10k miles when I switched out to the factory tire combo.

    In my 179 mi trip from the mountains back to the city I was back into the '60s. This trip was on a parkway rather than the highway so my speed was about 62 mph. I did not have air conditioning on and the cabin was set at about 67.

    Since reinstalling the factory tires, my overall MPG has gone up.2 MPG to 49.4.

    Summer is back, mpg in the increase!
