The Prius Gen 5 LE has standard 195/60/17 tires, with no spare tire, just a repair kit. I am considering replacing them with 215/55/17 run flats. 195/60/17 is (7.7"wide x 26.2"high) vs. 215/55/17 is (8.5"wide x 26.3"high). It is .8" wider than the standard tire. Would there be a clearance issue with calipers or scrubbing during turns?
No you won't have any any clearance issues. I'm running 215/60R17 for my winter set. So same width but taller. No issues at all.
I am using Bridgestone Blizzak 215/60R16's on 16x6.5 (5-114.3) and have had the car in a few Utah snowstorms so far. VERY impressed with the grip and control ('23 LE eAWD)...
