If this is the first time the transaxle fluid has been changed, a little bit of sparkly goop on the magnet is normal.

Anyway, put in fresh WS and roll onward! Go or blow, it'll end up costing the same!

Gonna say the 2nd time the fluid still looked pretty red but put in ATF WS and hoping for the best think it was last changed at 150,000

With any past cars we've had, all conventional automatic transmissions, they've had a magnetic drain bolt, and it invariably had a "paste" clinging to it, kinda black, kinda silvery. No chips or shavings, just this super-fine stuff. That's normal I think.

There was maybe a little bit of chunks but nothing big when I took out the oil it was barely barely shiny if I were to shine it in the sun at the right angle maybe from the first time it was replaced?

Worse case, it should be really easy to find a used, since they're pretty much trouble free.

It's a generation 2 you're fine everything is a okay It is normal to see silver specs in the transmission fluid there's also aluminum involved that's not magnetic no biggie most people never get around to changing the mess until 200,000 so after they buy the car new dealer prepping install or PDI and then run through warranty most people did that It might have been changed at 60,000 by the dealer and then most people ran that right on out to 200 K I say most people maybe not folks PC. But many did without any problems matter of fact it's pretty rare you really read about a transmission having problems even the motor generators in the transmission It's extremely rare look how many times it's happened here on Prius chat not very many so just keep getting it a transmission for one of these things somebody will charge you $250 to swap it out and you'll buy one for near nothing they're plenty of available they're all over the place like $200 I'm talking.
