Hi Folks, Looking to get a Prius to tow my Burgman 650 Maxi Scooter on a trailer and use the Prius as a sleep chamber using it’s the A/C overnight. Any help in steering me to the right used Prius and suggestions for trailer and hitch will be greatly be appreciated.
Gen2 Prius (2004-2009) are the most simple to work, as well as reliable... Getting the most lightweight trailer possible is worth the extra money because tongnue weight on most Prius hitches is only 200 pounds. Curt hitches for Prius are less than $150 and you'll need a device to feed the brake and running lights on your trailer that looks like this: Draw-Tite 118308 Trailer Connector Kit-Wiring Connector Fits 02-06 Toyota Camry | eBay
welcome! are you good with repairing cars, using a proprietary scan tool and renting a service manual?
The Insurance Co totaled my 97 Chevy P/U from a recent hail storm so I’m picking up a 2014 Prius 3 Hatch Back with 140k miles and it comes with a 3 month/4000 mile warranty. My Hybrid Adventure starts tomorrow.
You da Man Merv !…. what an enjoyable educational vid. I paid attention to every word said …. in hopes of not missing a thing … humor or instruction. Looking forward to your next Prius performance.
Prius are great cars, but maintenance can get expensive if you have to take it to the shop. I have saved a few thousands doing the work myself. They are very easy to work on and all the videos/tutorials are free on YouTube or this forum. Some things you may have to do in the future are module replacements, o2 and MAF sensors, coils, spark plugs, fuel injectors, etc. Shops will charge a lot, but doing it yourself is cheap. I own a 2008 that had about 140k miles when I got it, now at 212,000 and drives like a new car. Not sure what repairs/maintenance Gen 3 require over time, but I'm happy with mine.
