Hey yall! We are the proud owner of a 22 Prius. We where wanting a 23 or 24 but the deal "Market Adjusted Premium" was astronomical, and we could never find exactly what we wanted. Sorry, not paying 5-10k extra for the 'privilege' of a new prius after waiting weeks/months for it. Sorry rant off. I have searched the forums but haven't found a clear answer. The plastic hood support rod retainer clip is busted, and I'm a firm believer of using 20th century tech on 21st century vehicles at the very least. Why use a stick to hold the hood open..... Anyways, I was thinking of using the gas struts on Amazon. Has anyone had experience with them? I see some gen3's using them on the forum but my search Kung Foo must suck because I don't see anything . I would post a link but, I'm too new TSUBASA Lift Supports for Toyota Prius
I can get the clip easily enough, that's not the issue. I was wondering if anyone was using those amazon/ebay gas strut kits. It seems asinine for Toyota to have not installed something like this from the factory.

our newest camry lost the hood struts from our previous one. i was a bit dissapointed and considered the possibility of adding them but then i decided, it's so rare to lift the hood, no big deal to use the prop.
If I remember correctly, The Car Care Nut installed them in one of his YouTube videos (back before his new shop). I can’t remember which model he put them on but maybe it would help.
I'm too cheap to get new struts for the hatch on our '10. The originals still work, but need "help". At least it stays up.
Did you install these? Did they work? I've wanted to install struts on my Prius hood for a while now since I do all my own maintenance.
