A coworker was selling his 2010 Toyota Prius with just above 140K miles. He had just taken it to the local Toyota Dealership for a full inspection as he was going to pass the car to his college aged Son. It got a fantastic bill of health (except one wheel bearing) and he has a folder of all maintenance receipts. The boy decided he did not want the Prius so my coworker decided to sell the car to Carvana, Carmax, Vroom, etc. I paid him the same price as he would have gotten from Carmax (all the offers he got were within a $100) and I gave him the highest offer he got. The car got windows tinted, detailed, remote start and rust proofing and looks very good. The car had the most basic stereo from factory and no back up camera. I am using an unused old Android tablet which is sounding very good via the AuX connection and will figure out the back up camera. I still have the 2009 Prius which is going strong at just under 300K Miles. I could sell that but am using it as 'Minimalist Prius Camper' so will keep it for now.
congrats! remember, a gen 3 is not a gen 2. get on the egr circuit asap, before the head gasket blows. all the best
I will have to read about that. Is that for my mechanic or Dealership and approximate cost at a Dealership? Thank you in advance, Simba
dealers generally about a grand. it's all labor, although they will unnecessarily replace parts. mech will be lower if you can find one willing, they often don't like time consuming jobs. diy is complicated, but can be done by the diligent: search and stick to 5,000 mile oil changes like the gen 2

Congrats! If you're not going to upgrade the sound system, how about a low cost digital rear view mirror with front/rear cameras?
I would be very interested in this as even my older 2009 Prius has a rear view mirror and makes parking a breeze. A few days ago I called my Co-Worker from whom I bought the car a 'Cheapo' - - why couldn't he have bought a slightly more loaded Prius! He just laughed and admitted that he went very cheap when he bought the car. Simba
