Just a personal anecdote on the 2023 driver side mat - it does lock yes. That does not mean it is locked. Mine was not when I picked it up originally from the dealer and it did slip. They probably already checked, but I would make sure the lock is engaged and secure.

Is that referenced in the manual?

on gen 4, the manual states that leaving it plugged in for more than 3 days can drain the 12v. idk about gen 5

Some dealers must be getting careless. They should be reminded just how much such shop carelessness cost the Bob Baker Lexus dealership in El Cajon, after the death of CHP Officer John Saylor and his family.

Happened to me too on Christmas morning of all days. Get in car, nothing happens.. The second i connected my Noco booster pack, it went alive. I then connected my battery charger on the 12v battery and after a full charge, it worked as usual.. Still keep my Booster pack in my glove box however... Sucks to have a brand new car that leaves you stranded for unknown reasons..

P.S. I don<t know if it's been said at that point but you can give a simple boost from under the hood. There is a positive latch under a red removable plastic cap identified (+) in the fuse box and a big ground wire on the inverter besides said Fuse box. That's what i used. That way, you can at least open the trunk and access the 12v battery...

Did an OCR of the highlighted text in post #47:

When the vehicle is left with the AC charging cable connected, the electricity consumption amount of the 12-volt battery increases due to controls, such as the system checking, operating.

    And considering:

Could Toyota have loosened the purse strings, provided a device and circuitry, to charge the 12 volt whenever the hybrid battery cable is connected to the cat? Or are there scenarios where that would be detrimental?

This raises an interesting qx for me: so, if I set the charge to begin at 2 am and finish at 6 am, then plug it in at 5PM and walk away, does this drain the 12V battery for the next 9 hours? The manual also suggests that, for max traction battery life, you should charge it only just before using - not charge at end of day and leave it overnight. So which is it, the devil or the deep blue sea? :)

Looking at a few dealers new cars msrp I saw some put a lojack system in all of them for like $1200 extra. I think my g4 also drains too fast. I know it does. I noticed the obd port is a bit wobbly. Either Toyota made it wobbly, or the lojack installer. Now I have to figure out how to remove the under panel by the obd and not scratch or break anything. I want that thing disconnected.
There is a sticker on the door jam that verifies the lojack is installed. Made by Spireon.

Took my car for a 4 hours drive on christmas eve.. i really don't have any explanations. But i have 2 friends of mine, one is a service manager at a Toyota Dealership and the second one is a Tech at Subaru and both of 'em said that they happened to get a bunch of cars, both Priuses and BZ4X/Solterras that had 12v batteries that were DOA..

I'm keeping my Noco in my glovebox for now, until i'm 100% sure that my battery is ok or replaced under warranty.

Yeah good to at least check voltage prior to charging. Electronic load testers give better picture.

what was your chargers amp rating and brand/model, and how long did it take for full charge. Even healthy battery will take 5+ hours, say with 4 amp smart charger. More if it’s been a while.

FWIW ours lives on a charger. It’s garage stored, sometimes driven as little as once a week, more commonly maybe a couple of times a week. Mostly decent length drives though.

If your seller "installed" a LoJack, make sure it is activated. Get the App and enter your serial # from the device and make sure it is working. I bought a used Ford and they added $399 for a LoJack, but it was never installed. I tried to register in the App and LoJack said they do not have any information for a device based on my VIN. I took it back to the selling dealer, and after they confirmed it was not there, they refunded my $399.

The positive and negative terminals in the Prius seem far away from each other. I have a NOCO boost and the supplied cable does not look like it could reach those.

That negative point, D, is not really a terminal but instead a "metallic point". If your supplied cable won't reach, then look for a closer functional "metallic point".

Interesting that in Canada and Alaska, the car will keep the battery heater on for up to 31 consecutives days while plugged in. You would assume they wouldn't allow this if it would drained the battery in just a few days...

Standing at front of engine bay, at right end of engine there are the EGR components. There’s a little stud/nut combo securing EGR valve to the head there: very handy for attaching the neg cable.
