Had to see the dealer yesterday for my second key fob. While i was there i showed the service advisor the driver side of the dash was drooping/misaligned. They had another prius on lot and compared and mine was alot worst they acknowledged the problem. Said it was probably when they installed the alarm that they do to all there cars. She said they can see what they can do to fix it. Well the dealer ends up tearing down the dash into “a hundred pieces” according to my service advisor. They didnt tell me or ask they were gonna do it like that. Saying the bar in the inside is mis aligned. They put it together and she tells me they might need to order part after holidays due to back order but it’s fixed for now but might fall apart again. I pick up my car now and there is a new big gap in the driver side top of dash (wasnt there before), to the left of the speedometer (attached pictures). The gap is so big you can see through it to the internal parts and its all flimsy now. And the side dash they were supposed to fix looks exactly the same terrible. She seems flustered and said to bring it back Monday for a fts? To look at it. This sucks, ive had blind spot monitor go out at 800 miles. and now this. Im worried there just gonna keep making it worst or im gonna have to live with the shitty build quality like tesla panels. Should i let them try to fix it again? only a few months only barely at 2k miles. What would u guys do?
I’m not sure what else you can do, but it’s pretty sad that they take apart the whole dash of every car they get to install an alarm. The cheap plastic cars are made of these days never goes back together the way it comes from the factory. I’m not a confrontational person, and can’t say what I would do, but it seems like you’re going to have to demand satisfaction, even if that means escalating to the manager or owner. You’ll probably never get rid of the squeaks. Investigate your states lemon law
I would be upset with the sales tactics of this dealer requiring what is probably an overpriced alarm installation causing a material defect in your new car... I say they need to make it right 100%.
Thank for the reply. Im gonna go tuesday and leave the car for 2 days. See if they make it worst again or if its fixed im gonna ask for them to swap it out or something. I try to avoid confrontation to but i spent over 40k on this car with a 2k markup, i atleast want a put together product. I attached some pictures in this thread
Sorry I’m confused. Is this a result of them programming the 2nd key fob or an aftermarket alarm that was installed by the dealer?
