Enough to pay for changing out the brake rotors and calipers? 16 inch is the smallest wheel that will fit with the OEM brakes. The wider tire of the Camry will counter some of the benefits from the weight reduction.

Maybe the best way to compare the tire to speedometer estimate, is to find the tire specs for "revolutions per mile"...

 

You're accusing @bisco of needing bigger brakes? Surely you jest.

 

I think that would be a very bad idea. Beyond just voiding your warranty, I'd hate to even start to try and figure out which rotor/caliper/pad combination would work and give you comparable stopping ability to stock. And if all you're trying to do is get better fuel economy, you'd probably spend more on new components than you'd ever save in fuel.

That's the correct size. Of course you also need the wheel, but you probably already know that.

My wheel got here yesterday and my tire should get here soon. I went with a Yokohama for no particular reason.

It's Toyota/Lexus part number: 42611-21280. Beyond the 2023 Prius, it was also a spare wheel on the C-HR and the Lexus UX 200/250/h series. MSRP is $102.13, but you should be able to find it for under $70 if you shop around for the dealership/outlet with the best price. You could even try a junk yard/ebay for a complete used wheel+tire, but I don't know how many are floating around out there(if any).

If you want create your own OEM install, you're going to need at least four other parts, of which at least three are not available in the US yet. There are two white floor boxes that replace the ones already in the car. We haven't locked down the part numbers for those yet, but figure the price for both will be around $200 after discounts. There's also a hold-down bolt that will be around $15. I found the part number for that, but none are available yet. Finally, there's a tool kit that will set inside the spare wheel. This is important for an OEM install because it fills in the center of the wheel to support the deck lid. I haven't tracked down the part number, price, or availability for that yet(low priority for me since the boxes and hold-down aren't available yet).

All together, a complete OEM conversion should be under $500 using all new parts.

$15 - hold-down

I started looking at prices on steel rims for my Prius Prime XSE Premium.... even though it comes with 19" wheels there is more than enough room for switching to 17" rims. What made my jaw drop was the cost of 17" steel wheels. Our van takes 16" rims.

I believe some 16" rims will fit. your mileage may vary.

 

I was hoping the spare from my 2004 gen2 Prius would fit on my 2023 gen5 Prius Prime SE, but looking at the bolt pattern the gen2 spare has smaller bolt spacing. And the info at the beginning of this thread confirms.

 

Has anyone here tried the stock 195/60R17 tires on the 2023 AWD XLE? I just blew a tire today and the wait time for the 19" tires is about 30 days! I asked the dealership about doing this switch, but they don't have any experience with the new Prius and don't know if it'll clear the brake calipers.

 

Brakes are almost certainly the same, regardless if it comes with 19” or 17” rims.

 

I have 205/55R17 cross climate tires on 17x7.5+45 wheels on my Prius Prime. Their hasn't been any issue changing the wheels and tires.

Tirerack has 195/50R19 Michelin X-Ice Snow tires in stock. That would keep you from having to change your wheels.
