As Time Magazines Man of the Year I wanted to do some due diligence as to who I share this award with. Here is a partial list: Adolf Hitler Joseph Stalin Chiang Kai-Shek Nikita Krushchev Jimmy Carter Ayatullah Khomeini I would like to officially vomit now Do I have to put this award on my resume now?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(dbermanmd @ Dec 20 2006, 11:09 AM) </div> You forgot George W. Bush. Now i'm going to vomit. I dont know about you but I will be putting it on my resume.
I haven't looked at Time for quite a while, but I think they've lost it. The charter is to find the person or thing each year that has had the greatest impact on the news. Is that people adding content to the internet? No Iraq War? No Axis of evil dilemma? No idiot president? Oh, well. BTW DB we call it the "person" of the year these days.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(theforce @ Dec 20 2006, 11:18 AM) </div> I guess you like keeping the company I listed initially. Interesting... Sure speaks volumes.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(dbermanmd @ Dec 20 2006, 11:35 AM) </div> Sad that you can do no better than suggest that anyone who thinks Bush is a tool favors Hitler & Stalin. That sure speaks volumes, too. I guess when you have nothing of substance to say it's easier to try to provoke reactions that allow you to fire back and therefore give yourself a false sense of moral superiority. Tidings of comfort and joy to you, too, Doc.
The only time I read Time is when I'm waiting at the Doctors office and then it's usually at least a year old.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Proco @ Dec 20 2006, 02:00 PM) </div> Except that what theForce said was: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE("theForce")</div> Which implies that his urge to vomit did not occur until the mention of George W. Bush being on the list. Therefore, one could sarcastically read into theForce's witty reply that he had no urge to vomit, and therefore no great issue with being associated with Hitler and the others.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Marlin @ Dec 20 2006, 11:09 AM) </div> Is "he" going to come in and declare a loser?
I am so honored to accept this award. I would like to thank my parents, teachers, my dog toto, and all of you for believing in me. Can you win this two years in a row?
Here's a link to TIME: Person of the Year Current George has made the list more than once. 1990, 2000, 2004. I think that's enough to make one heave. Who else has made the list? Lindbergh Gandhi Astronauts Anders, Borman and Lovell Pope John Paul II The American Soldier Put "Dr" Berman on ignore, eat two chocolates and post me in the morning. You'll feel much better.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Marlin @ Dec 20 2006, 12:09 PM) </div> Exactly my point - I do not think it came across well - thanks for the explaination. That reply made me feel like vomiting seeing how people make W out to be worse than Hitler or Stalin - such perversion of thought - sickening. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Godiva @ Dec 20 2006, 12:53 PM) </div> Missed the point too. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(tumbleweed @ Dec 20 2006, 12:02 PM) </div> We try to keep our periodicals more recent than that. Even have a large flat panel in the waiting room and WiFi access for our patients.
David, All the names on your original list except for Jimmy Carter are dead so they shouldn't count. Carter on the other hand is a Nobel Prize winner. Sharing person of the year with a Nobel winner... Not bad!
I usually try to stay out of FHOP but I felt like replying to this topic. I dont want to start a flame war but I do hate bush more than I hate Hitler. Hitler was a great leader he just made some bad choices. Bush is a horrible leader and makes horrible choices. Just my view on things and I though he should be included in dbermanmd's list.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(dbermanmd @ Dec 20 2006, 10:02 AM) </div> It's the same degenerate game you were playing in putting Jimmy Carter on the list with Stalin and Hitler. That was sleeze too.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Alnilam @ Dec 20 2006, 01:09 PM) </div> A moment of admitted weakness - although with his last book he certainly seems to have adopted thoughts similar to Hitler sans the holocaust side of it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(huskers @ Dec 20 2006, 11:43 AM) </div> No need. They were named Time's People of the Year this year. Thinking of which, if anyone's going to provide only a partial list of the people named as winners in the past, you should provide a thorough and complete list of this year's winners. You know, just to keep things in perspective. I'll wait while you compile it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TonyPSchaefer @ Dec 20 2006, 01:30 PM) </div> We need the [you] tag back!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TonyPSchaefer @ Dec 20 2006, 01:30 PM) </div> He just picked a select few to save time. Judging from his opening post, he obviously equates all Time People of the Year to be the same; and since Reagan was a Person of the Year, the good doctor obviously feels about Reagan the same way he feels about Hitler. The defense rests.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Godiva @ Dec 20 2006, 10:53 AM) </div> Wiser words were never spoken! A vote of sympathy for the mods who can only eat the chocolates.
