Head gasket job; at the replacing camshaft housing part. I am unable to get it flush with the cylinder head and not sure it’s normal or if anyone else had this problem, because on all HG videos, it seems the housing is flush with the cylinder head. I included some pics showing my camshaft positions; I did the whole TDC thing when removing it, and haven’t touched their positioning since. I am able to lock onto the two rear dowels, but as soon as it’s on those dowels, the front isn’t flush. I can only get the front flush with the head if one of the dowels is not inserted in its hole.
the cams are lubricated with a good amount of oil.

Help anyone? For a very desperate newbie

It's hard to tell by the photos, but it doesn't look like it is set on their correctly.
Meaning, it's either to the left or right, forward or backward.
It might just be the angle of the photos. But each one looks off.

Are you just "test fiting" it? I don't see any sealer

The cam is pushing against the valves. When you start tightening the head bolts they
will (should) pull it down. But you shouldn't have to FORCE the bolts.

I am indeed just testing it. The two pins in the back are in, so in the back it’s 100% flush it’s just in the front. I’m just worried the bolts won’t push it flush to the head or that something will break

No matter what angle the cams are rotated to, they'll always be pushing at least some valves open. You have to tighten the bolts down to get them to push the valves open because of the valve spring tension. Make sure it is aligned right and then start tightening. You should test it first by tightening a handful of bolts down to make sure, without RTV. You won't hurt anything.

In hindsight, all of your questions could have been posted in your initial thread? With a half dozen threads going, on the same job, makes it harder for you and responders.

you could stick with the original thread down the road.

First time I'm ever using this site, so didn't really know how to post honestly. Thought doing it in the same thread meant that only the people who replied to my initial thread would see it, sorry

I’m at reinstalling the timing cover and just realized the felpro head gasket overhaul kit is missing some o rings. The 3 o rings I need to change before placing back the timing cover, none of the seals in the felpro kit fit here. The kit has complex names for each o ring so I don’t know if it’s in there or not. Attached pic to sow which rings I’m talking about. So far I went item by item down felpro list to figure out what goes where and the only 2 I’m still unsure of are:
    1x oil pump inlet tube
    2x oil level sensor
I attached the felpro kit item list.
Does anyone know part number or name of o rings circled in below pic:

    thanks in advance

If the old ones aren't pancakes, just reuse them... remember you're in there to fix the HG, not to replace those O-rings. If not, find an online dealer that has parts diagrams and you can look them up. I can verify they come in the Toyota HG overhaul kit, because I just replaced them with the kit I got.

Don't risk they leaking and possibly damaging your engine! They are inexpensive.
Go to the parts department at the Toyota dealership. They can pull up a photo of what you need.
Those "O" rings are probably getting hard, if not hard, and squished some and might not
seal correctly. It's not worth trying to save <$10.

fine to me! all my seals or o rings look perfect, I was changing them more as a precaution since it's recommended.... but then again changing the spark plug tube seals was also 'recommended' and i am regretting changing those.... lol

    UPDATE:

was at point of starting my car. Everything went as planned, except that when I started it, I noticed gas leaking from the fuel injectors. I immediately stopped everything and waited for it to cool down before checking my fuel injectors. I hadn't found the service manual for that part so I had just replaced the O ring and the vibration rings and that's it. I finally found the manual, and so I removed the whole fuel line and took out all fuel injectors, checked them and replaced them. When I got to the last one, i realized the little black thingie at the end of the fuel injector was missing, but I know for a fact it was there when I first reassembled them. So I was looking in the whole that goes to the engine to see if I could find the little black casing anywhere.

See pictures to see what I mean. I was going to order a whole new fuel injector until I saw it was 250$ so I was wondering if anyone knows if there's a place to order just the little black thingie. I can't find it in the toyota catalogue.

Also, has this happened to anyone? If I don't end up finding this black casing, is it a huge problem if its somewhere in the engine where the fuel injectors enter? Any tips on how to get it out without undoing the whole engine head that I just put back on.

My pictures won"t upload for some reason, so I hope someone understands what I mean by little black thing on the end of the fuel injector (NOT THE O RING OR THE VIBRATOR RING)
