Prius 2006 T Spirit I purchased the car last Saturday and I've just realised that one connector sticks out of the door panel (see photos). - Driver Side. It's quite strange because all works. Does anyone knows what it might be? Thx
Usually car dealerships or fleet managers install stuff like this for security, tracking or access purposes...
That's in its own little piece of ductwork and everything that's made to look like it's part of the car It's not in the United States and if it wasn't your country it'll show up on the parts break down or what have you I never seen a plug in the door like that with that little piece of duct work over it or piece of plastic or whatever that is and it must go right through to all the business right there on the other side of that unitized construction depending upon what hand drive the car is.
maybe it goes to the JBL speaker? likely someone worked on the car and made an error putting it back together. The more I think about it, the more I believe it does go to the speaker. If I remember correctly, the last time I had to replace one of the exterior door mirrors, I was able to do it by only partially removing the interior door panel, but it required disconnecting the speaker. Maybe they did the same job but forgot to reconnect the wires.
I think this might be the case, but the speaker seams to work ( or appears to work) . I am waiting for a strap stopper. Once I've got it I will have to take off the panel so my mystery might get solved.
it may even go to the mirror. Been a while since I swapped one. Does the mirror move normally? nvm. definitely the speaker connector. I have a speaker on the shelf still connected to a complete door harness.. Speaker part number is 86160-68010. Matches that plug
Here's a photo of the small speaker, and its plug. The speaker looks weird because it's removed from the plastic housing.
My car has this JBL mid base driver in the same position with the same plastic ring and the plug I do believe I'm sitting in the car right now but can't see the driver.
