Why is apparently no one buying a Prius/Prius Prime on the East Coast?

I didn’t even know about the letting you take your hands off thing? I thought you have to at least touch or squeeze the steering wheel every 10 seconds just like with the cruise control?

Someone mentioned automatic lane changing if you use your turning signal? I had no idea about that. How is that even possible, anyways I might try it next time I’m stuck in a jam.

Anywho, the fact that you don’t have to constantly concentrate on gas-break, gas-brake, gas-break, gas-break while stuck in horribly annoying traffic makes the feature worth its price in gold I find.

I’ve been calling every dealer. Around and can’t find a Prius for sale. Who has that prime daisy?

Valenti Toyota in RI but I’m guessing it’s on hold since they typically post an actual photo of the car when someone has passed on the “sale pending”. It’s a blue XSE Premium. They obviously also stall on removing cars from the website but it was on the lot yesterday.

Nucar/Tarbox in RI is a bigger dealership with a decent reputation. I could have bought a Prime off the lot over the summer but I wasn’t thrilled to know they had a waiting list and were willing to sell it to me and another customer despite this. I also didn’t like the color and still think a Prius is better option for me depending on the day or hour. : )

Nucar has 2 - 2024 Prius XLE AWD in build stage. Probably for customers. They sell a lot of cars considering it’s a small state. It’s about 45 mins from me. I’m sticking with my local dealership due to a promo they have and they are more pleasant/easier for me to deal with.

Same in Delaware. My sales guy said the last allocation had three Primes for over 130 dealerships in our region.

There has been a production gap between the 2023–2024 model years. The 2024 vanilla Prius is now flowing in in mass quantities. 2024 Prius Prime will start flowing in in late December 2023, but it is not clear if the production will be low.

Well, that's good news. I hope the flow continues, because I have been salivating over the new Prius for a while now :)

You should get it in about a month. My dealer told me a few weeks ago that there were 3,000 2024 Priuses allocated in the US at that time.

did you check out Primes in VT? I saw a dealer posting on the no markups Toyota FB group. When I was doing my search in May, I noticed lot of the larger metros (Manhattan, Boston) dealers had huge markups but if you look further away, upstate NY/VT then you can find dealers without any markup. But some do ask you to come in person for paperwork.

every dealer i have called has sad the primes in stock or in transit are all accounted for. would you like to place an order?
granted, i haven't called every east coast dealer, but after awhile, it is statistically telling.

As I said, the 2023 Prius Primes are practically gone at this point, and the 2024 Prius Primes won't arrive until late December due to a production gap between the 2023–2024 model years.

The information changes as time goes on.

I found out about the production and allocation status later after I talked to my dealer. The first 2024 Prius Prime production was set to start on October 23, with almost no 2023 Prius Primes left and only one 2024 Prius Prime showing to be produced on that date. It takes about two months for the cars to arrive to the dealers after production; so, that makes it late December for Prius Prime. In contrast, I was also told that there were 3,000 vanilla 2024 Priuses already being produced/allocated. They are already arriving at the dealers, as their production started about two months ago.
