The front end resembles the Prius so this kind of makes it a Prius SUV.
It's more wagonish in style, though it is the hatchback of the new line up. So will appeal to those that don't want an actual SUV. It is just that the crossover model is already on the high end of the Toyota price scale. Japan gets a yellow and an interesting bronze color. The taillights are more similar to the Crown Estate than the Crown Sport. That said, I also believe that the Crown Sport is coming but the teaser above is likely the Crown Estate (or whatever it ends up being called here - probably Crown SUV)
You think the Crown Estate is a midsize SUV? Specs are about Highlander size, but then again is the Highlander a mid-size SUV? Wondering what Toyota thinks mid-size is.
The Estate is a SUV in the way that the Outback is. The current Crown starts at the same price as the Highlander. The Estate will be a more upscale option to the Highlander. Yeah what @Trollbait said. Probably a fancier version for those who want something more than utilitarian. The Venza is aimed at empty nesters and young professionals while the RAV4 is aimed at families and outdoorsy people. The Crown Estate is to the Highlander what the Venza is to the RAV4. The other teaser is likely the Camry. I doubt there’ll be a dive plane on a Crown Estate.

Toyota Crown SUV Makes its Debut November 14 - Toyota USA Newsroom Toyota has already released the Crown Crossover, Crown Sport and Crown Sedan worldwide so it looks like the Estate is next. It will be an upgraded RAV4 sized SUV. Slightly wider and slightly longer than the RAV4 but nowhere near Highlander size which would have people screaming for a 7 seat version. I'm sure that won't stop some reviewers from suggesting a 7-seater, but Toyota is probably just trying to keep it simple. Some sites suggest some trims might also be offered with the Crown's Hybrid Max, because well it's a Crown, making it the first mid-sized SUV to feature this power plant. Its height also has some sites suggesting this is more of a wagon rather than an SUV. Its height does sit somewhere between Lexus' diminutive UX and the Corolla Cross and its length will probably give it more of a wagon look. Car and Driver suggested there's a US Trademark for the name Crown Signia . Isn't Signia already taken? I thought there was a Buick Signia. The Estate is supposed to offer a PHEV version as well. The only question is will the North American market get the Prime (PHEV) version? Toyota Global already said "The PHEV comes with a newly developed large-capacity lithium-ion battery" for the Crown Sport (Toyota Launches All-New Crown "Sport" in Japan | Toyota | Global Newsroom | Toyota Motor Corporation Official Global Website) so I'm assuming the Estate (Prime?) will have this battery as well. The PHEV version of the Crown Sport isn't due until 2024 (Winter 2023 is the actual release date) so we may get a peak at the new battery around December time frame, maybe.
So this is for when the Venza is too small? I must admit, I wasn't impressed with the Crown we have here (Crown Crossover in Japan). The interior didn't feel as special and as premium as I envisioned what a Crown should be. (Heck, it shares the climate control with the Gen 5 Prius and I'm pretty sure Toyota treats the Prius as a Corolla-class car). I guess it'll have better materials than the Highlander? I think you're thinking of the Buick Regal (Opel Insignia)
Or too cheap? The Venza is about $3,000 to $4,000 (USD) more than a comparable RAV4 Hybrid. Funny thing though, the Venza is over 5 inches longer than the RAV4 and the same width but doesn't have as much cargo room as the RAV4. I'm thinking with the much lower roof of the Crown SUV it'll have even less than than the Venza. Haven't been inside of a Crown yet. I'd have to get the ultimate opinion from my wife if I can convince her to even look at the Crown. After her Lexus probably couldn't get her back in any Toy if we went car shopping again although she likes the Venza. Me I'm more of an infrastructure guy, I'd have to drive it to see if it is anywhere as smooth, quiet, and comfortable as the NXh. Yeah I forgot about the Opels and Vauxhalls. Thought the name sounded somewhat familiar.
Possibly. Especially since the prices of the RX has gone up, there's room below. The Venza must be selling well enough to have TMNA ask for the Crown Estate to be brought over. Haha. That's why I haven't moved up to a luxury car yet. My EV6 costs the same as an ES300h Executive Package (which is what I want... aside from a RX).
It is about 3 inches longer in length, 2.5 taller in height, and an inch wider than the current Outback. The wheelbase of the Crown Crossover is 112.2 inches, and that is 4 longer than the Subaru. The Outback has 109 cu.ft. of passenger space, and 32.6 of cargo behind the second seats. Overall, it is about 4.5 more than the Rav4 hybrid's total. It is just shifted more to the passenger side and less in cargo. This Crown will likely be like the Outback in that regard with a longer wheelbase than the Rav. So I'd expect the cabin to be roomier than the Rav4, but the cargo space might be less in volume. Though the cargo floor space could be longer.
I love that Crown....might be a very tempting purchase when I retire and we go from a two Priis couple to one vehicle. (Or a small Lexus SUV.)
