My wife and I took our 2006 Prius on a 520 mile trip. I logged all gallons of gas used making sure I filled the tank the same way each time. The following is the break down of the 520 miles traveled: 1) Weather conditions: Mostly between 75-80 degrees, A/C off except for the front defroster when raining. 2) About 220 miles @ speeds between 30-57 MPH. This had various stop and go driving as it was a 2 lane road that passes through many keys. 3) About 300 highway miles @ speeds between 50-73 MPH. I did not have to use the front defroster and had both front windows open at least 1/2 way. 4) The Prius has almost 13,000 miles on it. previously I had not gotten more than 54 MPG in city or on the highway. I was very pleased with the verified 64.7 MPG. The car is a solid performer and after 11 1/2 months has not been to the dealer for any defects or other problems. I change the oil & filter and rotate the tires. Tire pressure is 42 lbs./front & 40 lbs./rear. In addition, There were 2 adults on the trip and appr. 150 lbs. of luggage, etc.
Congratulations on your great mileage. Do you recall what you mpg was for the first 220 miles; the stretch where speeds were from 30 to 57 mph?
In my best Cartman voice: "Kick nice person!" Congrats on a great drive and superior mileage. That's just awesome! And it'll even look more impressive once the EPA lowers the estimated mileage of the Prius. You'll go from great to superior.
