Got the Owner's Manual and Multimedia Owner's Manual with my car. I don't like books that won't lay flat, so I tore them apart and put them in ring binder. Next problem is trying to follow the zillions of acronyms. l went through the Owner's Manual and made a list of them and what they stand for mean. If anyone has made a flow chart of the setup stuff on the left side of the drivers panel, I'd like to see it. Any other help would be appreciated. I'm not very smart and learn best by trial and error but this is too large a task for me. I'll attach pictures of my rebuilt manual and pdf of the acronym list.
well done! good luck with the manual, i don't have the patience. i just drive the car, and look things up as i need to. or i ask here, so some smart A$$ can tell me to RTFM
For the win: Take the manuals out of the glove box. Instant increase in car storage space. If you have backyard furniture prone to blowing over in high winds, use the manuals for ballast. Go to techinfo.toyota.com and download the same manuals onto your phone. Less space, less weight, and you can do text searches.
DecorahDave: I downloaded the manuals as part of my research into deciding if I wanted to get the car or not, so started off with digital copies. For me the manuals are handy while on the road, but for anything at home it is easier to get on my computer with its nice big monitor (and the ability to search as noted earlier) and read that way. I like the idea of binders though, that looks pretty good. Alas I don't have anything between a cellphone-sized screen and laptop/desktop monitor, but the tablet idea sounds pretty good too. will
Second that! Any publication using myriad unusual acronyms should have such a section alphabetically summarizing all of them. As-is they’re often near incomprehensible. if you’re on a roll: a table format summary of Toyota USA’s event-by-event maintenance schedule is invaluable. Say with miles/months columns, and service rows.
what i really find disagreeable is the 'one manual fits all' thought process. so i have to figure out every option and feature i don't have. what meters and gauges, what information displays. it didn't used to matter as much when things weren't so complicated.
