A fellow redditor mentioned this and I just saw this on the Toyota manual. (page 239 for Prius). It is mentioned as Lane Change assist, but says "if equipped". Yet there is no mention of being equipped anywhere other than lane trace assist. and this is how to use it.
There are more advanced features offered in other markets. In my case with bZ4X, you can park with your phone from outside the vehicle... elsewhere, not in this market.
I haven't gotten it to work on my Limited with all options, but I haven't tested it enough to be absolutely certain my car doesn't have it. I haven't seen any other US HEV owners confirming it works. I have heard US Prime owners saying they've gotten it to work. It makes me think the Prime has it and the HEV doesn't in the US market. But I'm more than willing to be proven wrong if an HEV owner out there has gotten it to work.
According to page 99 of the owner's manual, the switches controlling LCA and FCTA (Front Cross Traffic Alert) should be in the Vehicle Settings menu between the Driver Break Suggestion setting and the TPWS (Tire Pressure Warning System) setting. If they are absent, the car does not have the option. I don't believe that any non-Prime Prius has access to that option. I'm guessing that the necessary radars were part of the spec for ordinary at one time but they were dropped at some point. Unfortunately, the manual was written to the spec. There is a lot of evidence that the manual was completed in a hasty fashion (spotty internal links in the PDF version, for example) and that the documentation folks forgot to remove these sections when the radars were removed from the spec. Note that I have a fully loaded Limited. The attached photo shows that the Vehicle Setting Menu jumps directly from the Driver Break Suggestion item to TPWS.
The feature is available in my PPPXP. I certainly wasn't sure if it was available either by reading the manual! The way I finally found out was that it has a bunch of settings so scrolling through them is where I saw that my car had the feature. will
I have a Prius Prime XSE and discovered it when driving on the highway. You hold the turn signal stalk down and hold it there to signal to change lanes for like 4 or 5 signals and it will display on your dash. This is before you hear the click where the turn signal stalk stays in position where it constantly signaling. You let go of the turn signal stalk and it will display on the dash and change lanes. It's not a smooth lane change. But, it's cool to see it work. I won't use it as I can change lanes smoother.
Got point, I’ll also check on the XLE Prius. You might be right for this being just a Prime thing, kind of disappointing.
