All of the sudden the touch screen on my 2014 stopped working. I can navigate the other screens with the side buttons. The little bit that I've been reading makes me believe that the unit is toast. Is there any other type of fix or way to diagnose the issue? Or do I just need to look for a replacement on ebay? Thanks!
I would power cycle the car first but the mfd units do go bad. Be sure you get the right one plus the extension box if you have maps built in. Most v3’s before 2015 have a 57011 with the bottom extension box.
I had a feeling you’d be the first to respond When you say power cycle so you mean just turn the car off and on? If so, I tried that several times. iPhone ?
Disconnect the rear negative battery cable at the chassis below hatch (easy plus a chance to check that connection). The attached shows removing the mfd starting on page 4. Don't remove the extension box unless you have to move it to another unit.

My current unit does not have maps. If mine doesn’t use Maps, do I need to worry about the extension box? Also, when I got in the car to go to work this morning, the side buttons weren’t working either. I have not had a chance to do a hard reset because I got home from work late last night. But then in the middle of the drive to work this morning the buttons started working again. The touchscreen is still dead. I’m assuming this is all pointing towards failure and I don’t know if I should even waste my time doing a reset. iPhone ?
If it is a 2014 Prius v Trim 3 it should have a 57011 and you have maps accessed by the App button. Without a functioning extension box you lose maps and some Bluetooth functionality. If you are buying used just get what you have so the cables all fit. Do a power cycle before doing anything.
Ok, so I disconnected the negative terminal. Reconnected. No change in the touch screen. Sounds like I need to replace. iPhone ?
