Hi sadly I need to sell my 08' prius - package 5- superwhite. I am locating in Philadelphia Suburb. I have a hybrid shop that is possibly interested in buying it - I'm guessing to harvest parts from. I was about to have some fairly major repairs done but then the catalytic converter was stolen. It has 220K miles on it. The repairs that I was going to have done were ABS actuator unit, 3-way coolant, valve and end sway link (about $125). Now add a new catalytic converter. It has a brand new 12V battery, practically new set of 4 Bridgestone Ecopia tires. The hybrid battery seem to have all good cells and I was getting 45mpg city and sometimes 55 mpg on highway. Can anyone give me an idea what this car should be worth. I think if the work was done, it could go for another 100K. If it isn't done, there a plenty of parts that could be harvested and parsed out that have value.

What kind of emissions gun are you under in Philadelphia That's the big question here Do you need the $3,000 catalytic converter in Philadelphia I don't in North Carolina. So your location has a lot to do with what goes on with your vehicle at this point I'm trying to think I don't know if I have a original cat sitting here or not I'll have to go look I mean that's just the two bolts and a seam around the end I mean that would cost here I have a cat put in at my muffler shop for $80 they both the thing up it to the manifold and then seam it at the end of the pipe to the cat back part If I put the springs and the screws in and have it mounted and take it over there they charge me like $44 to run a beat around the pipe a person that likes inexpensive options could take a clamp they make several options today and squeeze the clamp up correctly and be going for another 20 years or so I have several cars just like yours here under the same exact instances almost very close they are not being gotten rid of because I will lose my rear end on that That's never a good situation of course that's why all these cars are sitting around and people's yards now because people want $4,000 for the broke car I wait most of them out and they turn into $500 cars within a year or they get bought many do not.
It really depends on your local market. I'm in Southern California and I see cars that are going for four or five thousand dollars and pretty bad shape and then I see cars in Texas and other states and rural areas in great condition going for two grand cheaper. I would shop AutoTrader craigslist OfferUp for that generation and see what they're going for in various conditions and try to go off that. Pixel 7 Pro ?
You are making a wise decision to get rid of it. A working 2008 at 220k miles is $3800, minus $1800 for an aftermarket catalyst, minus $1500 for a used actuator and minus $500 for 3-way valve equals $0.00. However, as a parts vehicle you could get $1000-$1500.
I'm glad I don't live near you and do my own work........... minus $125 for an aftermarket catalyst, minus $75 for a used actuator and minus $140 for 3-way valve
Yes doing DIY can save you a lot of money. However, if the catalyst is not a quality Magnavox or OEM a code might come back after a few months. The used actuator could be very cheap but comes with a risk of not working and labor is a lot so might be a good idea to go with a new one and do it once.
Hi - Thanks you for your interest in my 08 Prius. I would like to get 850.00 for the vehicle . The buyer would need to provide the towing off my property. I have the title and it is a single owner title - that being myself only. I hate to part with it. If I could do the labor myself I wouldn't hesitate putting the money in for the parts it needs to make it whole. Unfortunately in June I lost central vision in one of my eyes and can't risk damaging my only good eye. Plus I lack the depth perception. You take these gifts for granted until you lose them. Let me know what you think.
