I have the Dice iPod installed also. It works with the Lockpick III. I have the Apple video cable plugged into the top of the iPod (this ives me L/R and video RCA's out. Those ends are plugged into the RCA emael connectors on the Lockpick.

I've tried having both the cables connected at he ame time but the Dice keeps trying to take over. It will work, but sems easier t just have one plugged in at a time.

The inputs are RCA. The Navigation kit took 2 minutes; it's plug and play under the drivers seat, no wires to cut. The rest of the kit is installed at the back of the MFD screen. Being very careful and following the excellent instructions, it took me about an hour to remove, install and reassemble everything. Again, the MFD parts are all plug and play; no wires to cut.

Well you guys talked me into it. Now I can get my sigma signal mirrors, EV, Dice and Lockpick3 all put in at the same time. :)

I can't find the answer to this question anywhere. Can you see the Album art on the video out of the iPod with video when playing music?

    Thanks,

Does the $99 basic kit unblock FM Text Messages? Does the $299 version?

Where do you mount the user accessable AV jacks? Inside the glove box?

I drilled a hole in the back of the cpmpartment just below the radio (the one with the clear dark door). I ran my cable from the Dice and the Apple A/V cable through it. This was I can store my iPod and all the cabeling in one place. The Dice can function without removing the iPod. If I want to play a video or a movie, I can just pull out the iPod, plug in the AV cable and I'm set. There's enough cable for the passenger to play whit the iPod while it's hooked up and running.

I'm still pretty new at this, having owned a 2007 Prius Package 2 for two weeks, but I have purchased an XM kit from Coastal for Christmas (wife insisted!) and am very pleased with their response on that item. I live within 40 miles of their shop, so maybe that made a difference, but I ordered on Tuesday and it was here on Thursday.

They are backed up so far on installations that they would not schedule, but they made no excuses and were very upfront about not being able to support until after January on that. So far, I am very pleased with their support.

Can anyone address the ilink iPod system versus other systems?

From what I can tell, the iLink system (which one can purchase from Coastetech, so I know it is compatible with the lockpick) doesn't seem to use either the factory controls (it comes with its own remote) OR the touchscreen, which to me seems like a big downside. On the huge plus, it will play divx and xvid files and will apparently play MP3s off any USB attached device (I've got some spare 2.5 external HDs that would be perfect for this).

Can the VAIS or DICE ipod systems work with the Lockpick? Can anyone share their experiences with them?

    Thanks

ok, so i have a 2006 package #5, without the Nav option. So if this lockpick unlocks the video feature and allows DVD play on the MFD screen, I assume one must have a portable DVD player. If true, then where do you plug it in???? I'm sorry, I don't understand this........

The software used by Coastal merely defines DVD as a video source. It can actually be any source of video. If you have a video iPod you can use that or a TV tuner, as an example. Any video source will just be labeled as DVD for the purposes of using the modified system. Hope that helps.

The Lockpick II will do just that. The kit gives you a L/R and video RCA female plug. I just plugged my Apple iPod AV cable in and "presto" the iPod plays movies and music videos when the correct source is selected.

    Thanks...
does that mean that you'll have to activate all controls on the iPOD and none on the prius?
IE: DICE operates on the Prius
Also, did you just mount your ipod to a general mount and ran power?
any recommendation for power for the ipod and a craddle for clean install?
    Pics?
many thanks...newbie on this forum....trying to get everything done by Jan 5th for LONG trip...thi03

I put it in today without issue. Great install instructions made it easy. Everything works as expected. I have a question that someone might be able to help with.

I have the factory XM tuner in my system. When I have my ipod plugged in the volume on XM is greatly reduced, when I unplug the ipod the volume goes right back up. No big deal-I can just unplug the ipod when listening to XM. I am planning on installing a permanent mount DVD unit in the DIN opening under the radio and I won't be able to unplug it when listening to XM. Will a ground loop isolator take care of this problem? Do you think that it is just an ipod issue due to the shared output ground?

    any ideas would be appreciated.

    Best,

    CapeCod

I have the same set-up, XM and a permanent mount DVD. The ground loop isolator does help a lot. However the sound volume on each is diminished. For example, when playing a.m. or f.m., I have the sound level at 20-27 and can hear well at highway speeds. If I listen to the XM or the DVD, I need to crank it up to 35-50 in order to hear it well at highway speeds. I can hear it, but there is a difference.

Also, dolby the center channel of 5.1 movies maybe difficult to hear sometimes.

That sounds like a nice setup, Rick. Too bad about the center channel though, that's supposed to be the clearest channel for producing the dialog. Would it help to upgrade the speakers maybe? How is the DVD player audio connected? Do you have a walk-through on your installation or any pictures? Thanks

I think the only way to get 5.1 sound is through some digital transmission -- an optical out or HDMI cable. Likely the RCA setup that is being used for this system is interpreting your sound source as Dolby 2.0.

The DVD player I have has a digital (5.1 coax) and RCA (stereo L/R) outputs but the lockpick only has RCA inputs. I could not figure out a way to get 5.1 sound into the car head unit...at least not on my budget :)

The install for the lockpick is very easy. So is the DVD. I installed it in the little cubby just under the head unit so that when the tinted door/cover is closed, you cannot really see the player. A nice little feature is that the remote for the DVD still works with the door/cover closed. Also, the DVD player I got has front RCA A/V inputs in an "aux" channel on the DVD, so that my son could play video games, or I could hook up an I-pod, or really anything I want with RCA connections/adapters. I will try to get pictures this weekend.
