Thanks Richard. Any particular technique in getting those trim rings off? Just pull them?

Just pull 'em. They pop right back on, also.

I’m having this same issue today in my ‘06 with 150K miles. What ended up being the issue?

I did just gave my tires rotated at Discount Tire almost a week ago, so I want to think it’s related.

Has anyone figured this out. My car just started doing this today. Almost 124k miles...I'm a bit concerned. Did a tire rotation help find the problem for others?

Help, did someone figure this out? I am having the same issue on my 2010 Prius with 164k miles..... It sounds like it is coming from the rear and I have checked tires, replaced brakes and rotors and also replaced wheel bearings and rotated the tires....Still the sound persists. It is random, it is loud, it is intermittent and I just cant figure it out... This is an old thread but I am desperate, please HELP

A 2010 is a Gen 3. You would be better to post your question in one of the Gen 3 forums.

What problems a Gen 2 might have may not necessarily translate over to a Gen 3.

Try checking the brake rotor dust covers, if yours is old a buildup of rust around the lip can scrape on the dust covers causing the noise, ive searched the whole internet to find out that possibility. My prius has the same clicking noise, it clicks at the same speed as the weels turn, and lessens during certain turns. Simple fix is to get a flat head and give the dust covers some extra cleareance

Any update on this issue? I have similar problem with my 2022 LE. Upon exiting my driveway, at low speeds, I hear some rock/pebble rolling around from under the hood, for a sec or so.
Does not occur when taking off from stop while on the road. Only when car is turned off for a while.
Please shoot any ideas you might have. Thanks
