I have been having problems with the check hybrid system message and code U0110.

I was told it could be a bad inverter, so bought a used working part and fitted it.
Still had the same problem, so checked all the waiting and connectors, which were fine.
I've replaced the 12v battery, so the final step was the hybrid power ECU.

I found the correct part on eBay and now the check hybrid system message has gone, but it seems like the immobilizer has kicked in and I can't get the car into ready mode.

I watched the video of jumping the connections on the OBD2 and leaving it for 30 mins with the ignition on.
    But this hasn't worked.

Techstream can't connect to the immobilizer/theft deterrent ECU.
Does this mean a new part?
If so, is it something I'm able to program myself?

So at some point you were driving this car without issues you have one or two key fobs that belong to the car the metal key unlocks the real physical lock in the door? And all of this is any of this correct?

Yeah, all was ok. I was driving about a month ago and all of a sudden everything cut out and check hybrid system camu up on the dash.

I was towed home and after looking up my fault, I went through the above process to fix the car.

I now have techstream,so can do a bit more.

But now having the immobilizer issue.
I have two keys original to the car. I've put new batteries in both, but still getting the problem

I don't have any error codes, just the issue or pressing the brake pedal, but will only turn on the ignition (like pressing the start button without the brake) Then the start button does nothing.

Yes so the car doesn't ready but it gets into the ACC mode which is the dash completely lit up but no ready text. So you should be able to enter your car's computers via tech. So you should maybe do that and then from there you can mess with the immobilizer system the lock business maybe turn it off temporarily and see what you can see in tech in the older generation there are places in the car where the key can be but they can't be seen in the generation 3 I thought they had most of this pretty much worked out I have two generation 3s and four generation twos The threes are the least of the good experiences with Prii. We've ever had. So it's not something I try to stay on top of we're trying to phase them out actually but I would look in the menu in tech other than that what has changed on your car or your fobs You have red lights when you push the buttons etc so on and so forth so it sounds like maybe you're antenna which picks up the signal or your computer which utilizes the signal maybe having issues The immobilizer ECU if I'm not mistaken you have to have something done by the dealer to have that dealt with some code has to be generated some kind of weirdness if I'm not mistaken.

I've tried to connect to the immobilizer via techstream, but it's not recognised/found.
Which is why I was thinking the ECU might be shot.

    Step 3?
I inserted the safety plug and slid it to the right. What is the third step?
Unless you mean insert, flip the lever down and then slide right.

    In which case yes.

In the US, programming the immobilizer is a special case that Toyota requires a certified locksmith license and a legal version of Techstream. Generally better and less expensive to allow a pro to do this.

However, there is no good reason it has to be reset or reprogrammed. I would focus on the parts you touched or changed.

Ecu code updates have been disabled on the hacked Techstream versions. A new GUI Techstream is used for those purposes.
