(Edit, this is about Techstream local software not TIS on-line service. Edited title. Discussion about Techstream starts on Post #7)) (if there is a topic on this already, please direct me, the search did not yield an obvious result) The XP laptop I got from a prior Prius owner that had the factory software was stolen from my Prius. Luckily they did not take the cables or CDs (pic). Hard to find XP laptops these days. What's the best way to proceed to get back to detailed Prius info? Thanks
Some have activated on win10 after some singing and dancing at the file and registry level: How to Install Mini VCI Techstream on Win10 64bit? Others simply buy “Professional” rights for two days ($70) and go legal assuming their hardware interface can do it
Little naming point: TIS is the name of a web online service you can subscribe to for manuals and service literature. Techstream is the name of the software you put on your laptop to talk to the car. Official Techstream only works while you are subscribed to TIS, so a little confusion is understandable, but they're different things.
thanks, this is what I am inquiring about. Updated the title. 1) what OS(s) can it be installed 2) Where can I find instructions on how to install on said OS(s) Thanks,
Any OS that can run virtual box, or a windows device. You will need a USB port as well for that dongle. There are many all over the web, and this blog has quite a few write ups for TS : https://blog.obdii365.com/?s=techstream
That link goes to a product. I could not find any how-to instructions nor a blog to review. I did google "techstream windows 10" and it gave me this from, ironically the same website which looks promising How to Install Mini VCI Techstream on Win10 64bit?
Which oddly enough is also the exact same link that @rjparker offered in the above post #5 : Techstream reinstall? | PriusChat Have you already attempted to follow the previously offered (and now found again) installation instructions, did they work? If you're having issues installing (or don't have a cd-rom drive), here is a "preinstalled image" of TS (via that same blog) that you can run inside of the "virtual box" app. Lets us know if you find yourself stuck in either of the processes.
