I was told by a mechanic that I needed to replace the Mass Airflow Sensor. Afterwards the engine spotters to a stop every time I try starting it I mechanic mentioned I need to put it in park and rev the engine continuously for 15 minutes for it to learn the new airflow. I was wondering how to rev the engine? I have a GEN three 2010
Just disconnect the 12v battery for 10 seconds and reconnect. You may have to clean your throttle body too
or try this driving pattern here which got first posted by @Elektroingenieur & got mentioned a few times by @ChapmanF / it finally made the dtc disappear after I forgot to plug in the maf plug while cleaning the egr. " During normal driving, increase the vehicle speed to 50 mph (80 km/h). Depress the accelerator pedal fully to increase the vehicle speed to between 62 and 75 mph (100 and 120 km/h) (engine speed of 4000 rpm or more) and then maintain the speed for at least 5 seconds." permanent P0102 readiness monitor stuck "incomplete" | PriusChat
SOME of you need to read the original post a little more carefully. And I think that this so called "mechanic" if full of crap.
Do you still have the original MAF sensor? What’s the miles on it? How soon after start up does it sputter to a stop? A few seconds? If so it’s not really running; that’s just the hybrid system spinning it (and getting discharged). I’d second your current mechanic being a big part of the problem.
