I saw other threads on spare tires but I am completely confused with diameter, bolt patterns, tire spec, etc. Could someone advise me exactly what rim and tire I need to get for 2020 Prime LE? Also, if I look for a spare tire at junkyards, which older Prius has the spare that fits 2020 Prime LE? Thanks!
your looking for a 5x100mm 15 inch rim & tire 195/65r15. I forgot what the compact spare tire size is, but you'll be still looking for the 5x100 rim bolt pattern. Some Subaru tires look like they will fit, but bolt pattern is too wide. Try fitting the spare onto the car, if they don't have one of those plastic rim gauges, to make sure it fits..
The 4th gen Prius (same as yours) has the spare tire spec. Third gen has a different spec but also works, and is actually better, closer in OD to stock 195/65R15. The spare tire specs are in prospective Owners Manuals, and you can download pdf versions of these, one source being Toyota Tech Info website (in the “Manuals” tab). Part numbers for the spare tire rims (either 3rd or 4th gen, both compatible) can be determined and ordered by contacting any Toyota dealership parts department, or through online Toyota parts database websites. One issue currently: the official Toyota USA parts website was recently revised, is a bit of a dumpster fire. You could try alternatives, say Amayama (and likely save money as well). Or just go with picking up the phone and calling aforementioned dealership parts department. Then you can order through them, or elsewhere. up here I was looking to replace our (13 year old) spare tire, just the rubber, and found local tire shop (one in particular) wouldn’t touch it. Maybe best to just contact dealership parts department, let them “turn-key” the job, ie: procure rim, tire and mount for you.
