The HID ballasts in Gen2 headlights are so bad that I've converted lots of Prius HID to run on new headlight cases that hold halogen bulbs. All the remaining used ballast that still work have been spoken for... But I have boxes of 'em / at least 3 pairs of Gen2 HID headlight cases that are taking up space in my work area and I have to get rid of them. If someone wants to have them for free and you can arrange for pickup or paying for shipping please get in touch. If no one is interested they're going to the garbage dump, though I might get out the heat gun and salvage the clear plastic parts for the parts rack, but not sure I'll have time for that... If you know who I could pass these on to please let me know in comments below or private message me?
Pretty generous offer. Hopefully someone is able to use them. Fortunately, I've never run into a Gen 2 HID model with any headlight problems other than failed bulbs. Although I haven't really tested my most recent 2009 Touring yet....maybe I'll check them later this week when I get back.
I could use a pair- my HID's work fine but the lenses are not nice. Give me a price to ship them to central NJ and I can paypal.
Ok, great to hear... I'll figure out a shipping price... But first, isn't this something you can fix with a headlight polishing kit, which might be cheaper than shipping and way less labor.
Nope, the plastic of the lenses is deteriorated. Something's happening to the material on the inside. I'm planning to pull the front apart and replace the radiator and A/C condenser, so it'll be a good time to do the lenses. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Hi. I have the same issue with mine. HID and plastic is too far gone. Shipping to 66224. I can Venmo.
So three pairs of headlights were available and now 2 pair so far spoken for... Going to @mr_guy_mann and @ColoradoCrow Just one pair left... Get in touch if interested?
Howdy - I’d like the last set for my son’s ‘05, the originals are clouded up and I’m considering doing the LED conversion on them prior to install. Thanks mucho. 95452 is the zip. I’d also like to chat about battery options
