Is 2024 Prius/Prius Prime imminent?

Ha ha, I love the blue magnetism. If you remember the Schindler's List scene, where the little girl is the only colored object in the frame, that's what the blue magnetism looks like on the freeway—it makes everything else look black and white.

I also had a silver 2020 Prius Prime XLE, I neither liked the color nor the car, which came without BSM etc.

I wish Gen 5 came in blue magnetism, it would be my color of choice again without hesitation.

 

That is not the most flattering angle. You need to see the color in real life to appreciate it. The color in your picture is not correct at all.

In any case, it is definitely a far better taillight design than in Gen 5.




And I have driving lights and head-up display, which are missing in Gen 5 as well.

 

Yes, it has small-diameter but efficient tires—albeit the same tread width. Yes, it looks like a hybrid and is more aerodynamic than Gen 5 (133 mpge vs. 127/114 mpge).

 

I get it that larger-diameter tires make it look better, but I think they both look good in ways—Gen 4 more utilitarian-looking and Gen 5 more sporty-looking.

 

No problem with a car displaying the Rolling Stones logo or heavy-metal horns.

 

No, the picture is not distorted. That's exactly how the car is.

I don't like the looks of Gen 4 Prius at all—I think it is hands down the worst-looking Prius by far with its awful headlight and taillight design (the mid-cycle refresh made it worse)—but Gen 4 Prius Prime is a good-looking car. Some people don't like the "gills" in the front, which is fine. At least, I have driving lights on the gills on my Limited. It looks very good from above, too.

As for the aqua/turquoise color, you actually like it more when you own the car. It is fluorescent in daylight and under LED light and shines brighter and more colorful than any car on the road—definitely sporty and safe. You would never lose it in a large, crowded parking light. If I were trading in for a Gen 5 and this color were available, I would pick it up with no hesitation.

I postponed my Gen 5 Prius Prime purchase to 2025 as I said before. By then, my Gen 4 will be almost paid off and my new payments will be under $150 a month. With some luck, perhaps they might even have TSS 3.5 or 4.0 by then.

 

There will always be changes—albeit possibly very minor and unnoticeable, such as updated part numbers etc. In fact, there are such changes even during the same model year. I know this from Toyota parts database, which lists the part numbers for a given manufacture date but not for a model year, and these part-number dates and model-year production-date ranges (the latter historically typically running from August to August) don't always align.
